[QUOTE=johnta1;6280917]That's a good MPH. Probably low 10's in quarter.
Was he running slicks?

We are hoping for a low ten sec pass and yes he was running slicks.
They don't prep the track where he was at to make it more like the street.
It was hot and humid real bad that day, He said every body was having
problems and there times were down from usuall.

Intake is a SM Black Friday single plain I made match heads. Personally I would consider this engine a street engine at 10.7 and the little cam. Carb was the weak link this weekend I used a 800 spreadbore holley I had on shelf also. Probably not my greatest idea but I had it so I used it. Hopefully we will take it to the Pontiac race at Bunker Hill in two weeks with a improved carb setup.
Nice results! Do you happen to know the weight ? What trans, converter & rear gear?

Thanks

Are these the same as other Speedmaster head deals?

I believe it’s the same head but it’s a bare head. On the Speedmaster site they have valves & springs, I think,

I see on Speedmaster79.com that complete heads are $1193. My question for people that bought them last time at this good deal and used them, do they work good? What I mean is were they flat and assembled correctly and usable out of the box? When it comes to parts like this I wonder if buying the bare heads and having a good local shop prep them and be sure they are perfect is maybe the better way.

I went ahead and ordered mine bare. There’s a YouTube video easy to search where someone breaks down a set and critiques them.

i just finished building a 30 over 400 with speed masters from last years black friday sale, and a good size hydraulic roller from Randy Repp. Installation was easy, quality seems good. motor sounds great We elected not to port match the cnc ridge at this time, as we have a 300 hp bottom end with a 500 hp top end, and did not want to disassemble the heads for power we did not need. it sounds amazing, idles well, no smoke or leaks from the heads, it has a torker 2 the head port size is in slightly smaller than the big edelbrock gasket and slightly larger than stock torker 2 size. make sure you order guide plates too, and i would order a set of head studs or bolts asap so you dont have to wait
if you can live with chinese heads on your pontiac and you are not trying to make the earth rotate backwards with pontiac power, they are hard to beat for my two cents. we are expecting deep 12s or better in an original muncie backed 1970 lemans street car. he is moving up from the stock 350 2 barrel, it should be fun. i just ordered another set to have instock

Do these heads have a horsepower limit? Where do they top out at when working with them, not doing a lot of welding and trying to make them something they are not. Wondering about this as built and/or with some porting and larger valves? Trying to decide to buy bare or complete. Going to put them on a 455 block but thinking ahead because of the price, don't have a motor plan yet.
