That would be super helpful, thanks! If you have a side shot of the car that might help me make a decision too.

If you put a 235 or 245/50/17 on the front, the rake will be minimal. The .4" difference in diameter on the 245 vs the 255 only makes .2" difference in ride height.

Thanks...It's like Champ was saying, you don't really notice the size difference between the front and back.

Alright, I'm going in. Ordered up 2 17x8s and 2 17x9s from Jegs today. 6 week backorder, but that gives me some time to decide and save up for tires. Looks like I can reuse the original style lugs, guess we'll see when they get here.

Funny thing, if you order them by their U.S. Wheel part number the set is cheaper than Year One by about $150.

17x8 : https://www.jegs.com/i/US-Wheel/947/528-8834/10002/-1
17x9: https://www.jegs.com/i/US-Wheel/947/528-8934/10002/-1

I think the Year One set includes center caps perhaps?

But depending what kind are on your Rallye II's now, you might be able to reuse yours on there now.

And any reputable tire shop chain should be able to have you sample tire sizes - or if they won't - go to a used tire shop and have them try different sizes until you decide what looks and fits best before you buy.

255/50 is what you will want for the rear....

The $1099 sets come with lugs and center caps, they're $999 bare. I got the bare wheels for $850 w/tax through Jegs so I'm feeling kind of proud. Even on the Jegs site, they're listed for $50/more a piece under the YearOne name vs. US Wheel. I have repro center caps and just bought new lugs, hopefully I can reuse them.

Got a couple used tire shops around here, that might be a good way to experiment with sizes before plunking down some big money. I'm leaning towards the Diamondback G2/Nitto 555s as a final choice.

This is the first time I've ever had custom wheels on any car, so I'm kind of excited.

I recently made the move from 15" to 17" wheels. YO rally II, 245/45/17 front on 8" and 255/45/17 on 9" rear. I am extremely happy in the ride, increased handling and looks.

Looks sharp! Those wheels look so good on '66-'67s. Love the color of your car too.

Those wheels seem to have a variance in the color of the charcoal inserts, maybe it's just because of the light in the pics, but Sometimes they look darker, sometimes closer to the aluminum. Curious how they compare to the original color.

I just went through this with my 72, though I did 18's. Gto Tex's 66 looks awesome, but I think the tires are a tad short. I wanted to get mine so that they were close to factory diameter. If I were doing 17's, I think I'd do 245/50/17's in front and either 255/50/17's or 275/45/17's in back which are closer to stock height. I didn't think I could get 275's in the rear of mine, but it worked and looks great

Update... skip my suggestion on 275/45/17's, doesn't appear they make tires in that size! Definitely don't go smaller that 255's with those 9" wide wheels. My tire guy told me that the 275's I put on my 9.5" wide rear wheels was about as narrow as he would go

Problem with a 50 series tire is there is really no performance, speed rated sticky tires available. The 50's are about 1" taller than the 45's. The 45's are still 1" taller than the the tires the car was born with. I am running BMR arms and 1" drop Hotchkis springs.

The lighting seems to change the color of the inserts. They are darker than they appear.

Appreciate it. You don't see that on the stockers, it must be because of the aluminum.

I guess I need to decide if having Diamondback add a redline to those is worth almost doubling the price of the tire. I didn't realize the price difference was so big.

A 7.75x14 is about 27" tall.

Even your 255/45/17's are 1" shorter, not 1" taller, than the OE tires.

A 245/50/17 is 26.6" and a 255/50/17 is 27" tall and there are plenty of excellent tire available.

Your 245/45/17's are 25.6" tall.

Your correct, the 255/45/17 is 1" smaller than the OE tire. My phone decided it should be taller instead of smaller.

Wow, that is a tall tire! No wonder whenever I see people up-size rim diameter on a later A-body with tires <26" tall, they seem a little on the small side.
