Hello all,

I'm gonna attempt to install a headliner on my 70 GTO. I tried before on a 65 and it came out sagging all over the place. Can anyone refer me to a website that offers tips on installation? I want to do the job myself as I'm only building a driver. A professional will charge me at least $225 which is what they are getting here in CA. An tips or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Will

I live in Roseburg Oregon and found a guy here to install for $100. I supplied the $60 headliner kit from P/Y and he installed.

My recomendation is to let a pro do it: advice I got from this forum. For the money I got good results.

Bring it up here or check around for people that don't work from a traditional upholstery shop or do it on the side.

A headliner is not that hard to do. Remove all the strips around it front and back. Remove 1 rod at a time and mark the hole that that rod came out of on both sides. I use a white out pen and just circle the rod in place Same steps for each rod. To install put the same rod in the same holes. On the sides you may have cardboard wrapped up in the material to give it body to stuff it in the crease Keep and use that cardboard. Headliner will not look real good until you park outside in the heat with windows rolled up for a day or 2 to shrink the material. Do this after reinstalling the strips around the headliner. For back panels if you have merely strip off and glue new panels onto the cardboard.
