Put the same setup on my wife's 71 T/A. Tall valve covers and A/C. Had to do some widdling on spacers and fabrication of a couple of new ones but overall wasn't too bad. The AC belt was the worst of it. Had to relief cut her bracket also for the belt not to hit the bracket. In my opinion the AC belt needs an idler about midway between crank and compressor. I'm going to fab up one before the weather warms back up again. Her's keeps flipping under heavy acceleration. I think it's whipping too much.

Reviving zombie thread
2021 Thread Resurrection
Anyone bought the complete V-belt system from CVF in the last few years? I'm helping a buddy, he has a cobbled collection of factory pulleys & brackets, along with a Vintage Air system, and keeps throwing belts. I thought this might be his solution, until finding this old thread!!

Their customer service generally gets stellar reviews.
I have a cvf bracket system but still using original pulleys. I have thrown a belt once but only at the top of the 1/4. Street driving I have thousands of miles no problem. I will say that on initial install I had to crank down the fasteners pretty hard to get proper alignment. What I felt was tight still left gaps between the brackets and spacers. 100% honestly while my experience is 90% positive if I had to do it over again I would buy a serpentine kit.

It's been a few years since I did mine, but I've had to work on quite a bit of v-pulley set ups. To avoid throwing belts you should spend extra time in ensuring everything is aligned. If you get them aligned well, spacers, etc., the factory pulleys (that you have) or the CVF setup can be made to not throw belts. CVF will send out spacers to align things, but I found I had to make modifications to get it aligned properly.

Just to say it out loud, timing cover condition, gaskets used, and water pump used, all impact the final result.
Serp and v-belt parts are based off the machined face of the block, anything from there outward can impact your final results. Almost all serp companies use, or 'suggest' you use, an Edelbrock water pump (suspect due to close tolerances). I suggest a new timing cover too. And use the typical thin paper gaskets on TC & pump/pump divider plate. Taking the above into consideration, you greatly increase your' chance of success. .

I've used OE and aftermarket (Ram Air Resto) V-belt pulleys with OE brackets to high RPMs on multiple vehicles and rarely to never threw a belt.

The same. RARE can drill the crank pulley for 3 bolt holes if using an ATI balancer.

Out of curiosity, what are you guys using to verify alignment? Mine eyeball wise look very close, but I did toss a belt on a drag run. Specifically it looked like it flipped first and then came off. So I might be slightly out of alignment. But when you get close, how are you verifying that it’s dead true.

Put their V belt pully and bracket system on mine 2 years ago and it has been flawless.

Another 'just to say' comment, pulleys can and do wear out.

I am using original pulleys. I have considered going to knew CVF pulleys, but at the same time Im not sure I want to put more money into the V belts, or just go to a serpentine system.
