Default Sooooo my wife tells me that

i have to sell all my toys and get only 1. So I sold my 65 plymouth, my 72 riv boattail, my 87 vs intruder "the harley killer", my 71 440 dual quad duster, my 68 glastron/carlson boat, and i bought the 67 GTO that was number 1 on my list ( was tied with the 69 camaro rs/ss copo). Before she saw the pictures of the car, her lips were pursed, and she was generally pissed off. When she saw the car, she let out a little gasp, "sorta like in the old days". Dear Lord that is beautiful she said. Thanks God, for the engineers that came up with the GTO.

Sounds like it's time for a new wife......My wife would NEVER say I have to sell ANYTHING. 28 years and still going strong!

She has never been in a GTO. Maybe she will change her mind. If not, too dam bad, I"m driving and going to shows without her. That last ride in the 440 duster was a little hair raising for her, just good cheap thrills for me. Oh well, I'm sure gonna have a ball with or without her.

how long have you been married? I have never one time asked my wife before I bought any car (collector or driver). I personally couldn't live that way. but on the other hand, I take very good care of her and spoil her rotten.

Here's a little story for you....When I got married, I bought my wife a pair of diamond earrings for her as a wedding present - in return, she gave me permission to buy my first GTO. We were married for 11 years.

My current GF & I have been together for 10 years now and like Gary above, not once have I asked for permission to do anything. Also like Gary, I spoil here rotten & she does the same with me.

When I first read this post, I thought it was a "tongue in cheek" sort of thing but now I'm starting to think you are serious?????? Holy Dooley

My wife doesn't really like any of my cars but man o man, she sure is tolerant. VERY RARELY does she say anything, more likely she will be describing me to friends and she just says that I'm out of control.

My philosophy is that the bride ALWAYS has a good car. And she ALWAYS gets the premium spot in the garage so she never has to get out in the rain or hop into a baking hot car parked in the sun while one of my "toys" has pride of place in the garage. Seems to work for me. Signed up with her 43 years ago and I don't think either of us are going anywhere

My wife does not get garage space. She does ask why I need six cars. My answer is in case one breaks down. We have been married for 44 years. She seems to like the cars that are not real fast or real loud so she doesn't like to ride with me in the 72 GTO or the corvette. And No I do not need permission to buy anything. I own a few houses that she has never seen the inside of. One of those I forgot to mention that I was buying.

My wife has never ever given me a hard time on anything I wanted to buy. Her philosophy is if you want it buy it. She grew up dirt poor on a diary farm and has worked hard her entire life. We have a comfortable middle class life and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Or as I tell my son we are spending his inheritance.

Only time I will sell a car I have is if I want too. If you needed money ask her to hock her diamond ring!
My wife don't mind the car, she knows where I am if I have free time!

When I got to 8 or 9 cars my wife wanted me to sell one every time I bought one! So now I just don't tell her when I buy one!

The phrase "Your inheritance has a 4 speed" just rolls off the tongue.

My wife is very tolerant and even "goes for a ride" ever now and then. When we were first married we only had two cars and one was my 69 GTO 4 speed. One day she needed to go grocery shopping and I told her to take the GTO. She came back all upset. Exiting the parking lot was a slight uphill drive. While waiting she let the car roll back into another car and dinged the rear bumper. Of course I was upset and looking back I probably should have been more forgiving.

In our 30 plus years of marriage I don't think she ever had "permanent" garage space. When we built our house she had full control on everything except the garage. She does question my sanity every now and then and the time/money I put into the hobby. But all I have to do is bring up the number of shoes she buys! LOL! Every morning before work I find sales tags on the closet floor from new clothes she bought for that day!

I am much more "reasonable" in my old age about the time and money I put into old cars and spend more time taking care of her.

My kids have all decided which of my cars they want! LOL!

Nothing wrong with your thinking. Even with the son's inheritance.

I've seen many instances where a person in the 20's or 30's was "waiting" for their "money" it all went fast, up a nose or down the toilet!!!

My buddy sold his 72 GTO a couple of years ago, had reason's, but now wished he had not. The dad gum thing sat in the garage, didn't hurt anyone. Can't give any of the reason's, but they pertain to the OP'er's post...

My wife gets kicked out of the garage and hates all my stuff. "It's just junk" Then I get the "this is my garage too" speech. Really? Grab a broom and start cleaning! I was actually shocked when I bought the Grand Marquis, she actually agreed with me and likes the car... Sucks being married to a DIVA.

Some of you have it tough. When I told my wife recently that I was planning to sell the '67 GTO, she got upset and started crying. She doesn't want me to let it go, and she never has.
