Default 1970 TA Van Nuys car.

Just curious about the Cannister Evap system on this car. Is this a 1 year only set-up on California built cars from Van Nuys or did they have this on Norwood cars also. I have never seen this set-up. It has two pipes and a black charcoal square cannister that mounts at the rear of the car above the rear end kind of like a 1971 on up but an early style set-up to that.

This is the only 1970 T/A that I have ever owned from Van Nuys. Just curious for more information from others on this item.

Thanks

I don't believe there is charcoal in the rear canister i believe its a over engineered attempt at vapor liquid seperation so only vapors make it to the typical round canister under the hood

Is yours all there?

Should have the charcoal canister up on the firewall passenger side

Nope.
I know the 71 on up have the tube assembly that is mounted to the truck floor and extends inside the car behind the rear seat. They all have the cannister up front.
The car I have is missing the charcoal canister up front and the pipe from
front to the back start of rear frame rail. It has the black box mounted to the underside of the trunk floor and all the pipes from the tank and to the rear frame rail but nothing forward of that. Just curious about it since I have never seen one of these. I guess the saying is somewhat true that almost all emissions stuff starts in California. Lol
Just an infantile looking attempt at a vapor control system.
Thought I had seen it all with these cars.
Strange how all of the Firebirds and T/A's I have owned I have never run a crossed one of the 70 cars from California.

Thanks for the help.

Car has the spot for it but it is missing. Bracket was in the truck lower QP
drop leg. found it a couple of nights ago when I flipped the car on the rotisserie.
clang, what was that, kind of moment.
Looked like someone flattened it out and put it in the trunk for safe keeping. Lol

70's , built in Either plant, but for sale in Calif have " EEC" .
This includes a 1 year only mounting for the canister, but same location as 71 and up. On the core support. It also includes the black box above the axle as mentioned. I have posted pics of mine on here before.
A Calif built bird in 70, but sold in Texas, doesn't have EEC, OR A camister... And likewise a Norwood build bird sold in CA Does indeed have EEC and a canister. You don't see them much, due to location, or desire to remove.
