sniper problem
car has had sniper on it for about a year and has been running great
maybe 600miles total since install cranked it last night to move out of shop and seem to running little off and afr is showing 36 to 1 i know it cant be that lean since it still smells little rich. before i go out and just buy new 02 sensor i thought id check to see if any body elese has had this issue and what would you suggest ? maybe remove 02 sensor and check? i thought about taking 02 out and leaving wired to car and wrapping it in rag soaked in gas to see if readings go full rich but looking for other thoughts before i try thanks |

First thing I would do I simply clean it. If cleaning it up helps or fixes the issue, I'd start looking at why the car may be running rich enough to cause a fouled o2 in such a short period of time. I'd be looking for an exhaust leak upstream or very near downstream of the sensor.

Something else to check, make sure all injectors are wet/firing.
I've never had it happen but I've been reading a lot of reports of the injector plugs working their way loose, so if you find one not working, pull it apart and make sure the harness connector is secure. Guys are using zip ties to hold them firmly in place. |

Mine started to flicker to 36 every now and then. I did not hear any exhaust leaks but one of my header bolts was ever so slightly loose. I loosened up them all to examine the gasket which looked fine to me, retorqued down the header and haven't had a problem since. My read is this system is very sensitive to any type of leak introducing air north of the O2 sensor.

A much easier way to test the 02 when the car is running poorly is to just simply put the car in open loop taking the 02 completely out of the fuel equation. Providing you have a good base fuel map.
Actually, many of us keep an open loop tune stored on the SD card so that in the event we might have an 02 failure while out and about, it's pretty simple to just pull over, swap in the open loop tune on the hand held, and drive on. As long as the base fuel map has a solid tune in it, it'll run fine, providing it's actually an 02 problem to start with. |

Good to hear. You'll want to clear your learn table as that is now corrupted.
To keep that from happening again, once you have a good base fuel table built that has very little correction going on, turn down the learn percentages to something like 5%. You can still keep compensation limits up, but turning the learn down will keep that table from getting corrupted way out of whack next time the 02 sensor fails. |

I put O2 'defoulers' on all my efi project from now on, it's a frustrating problem when they foul.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/i...SABEgJbC_D_BwE There's no harm using one even if it's not fouled, it helps prevent them from fouling. Tons of them out there, they come in straight, 45 & 90 degree ones, your choice. .

I've seen them as low as $7, but some look 'cheap'.
https://www.shopgoodyy.com/products/...iABEgL_5_D_BwE The ones from UroTuner don't look too bad: https://www.urotuning.com/products/u...=8311005184055 Yeah, just search 'O2 Defouler' or 'O2 Spacer' and check results. I prefer the ones without any media or 'baffles', but suspect they would work too. EDIT: Danny C. from the efi forums recommended the Innovative ones, and grabbed a couple of those. I have some others too, but just wanted some on hand. .
