Fitting, marking to drill holes for the 1/4 outer fuzzies, checking how the 1/4 interior panel and end lace fit. Looks like have to add some metal for the interior panel to lay on. I put on aftermarket quarters.

Even sideways that looks like an awesome 1965 Bonneville, how lucky you are to inherit such a fine machine. The entire Pontiac lineup won Car of The Year in 1965.
I do love the car it’s been part of my whole life.

Beautiful job on your 1965 389, looks like it just rolled off the assembly line right there.

Did you do a 100% stock rebuild, or did you perhaps lower the compression ratio a little to compensate for today’s lower octane fuels ?

Lower compression 10 to 1, 068 cam, Autotec pistons from Ractec, Scat connecting rods, alot of the internals came from Butler. Block, crank and heads are stock. Yes I’m going for a stock appearance. The heads required some work to install push rod guide plates because it had bad rocker alignment, that seems to be a thing with these 389 heads.

Picked up all the stuff I dropped of at the powder coater. It all should have been zinc plated but I got all my items coated for $60.00 including the frame mount for the clutch linkage and the two A/C lines. They made sure the swivel nuts on the ends still turned freely. Not correct, I know but for the price I'm not complaining. I have the correct zinc plated coil bracket in the second pic for reference.
I also detailed & installed my 2 SPD wiper motor with a NOS washer pump only to find out the wiper motor wouldn't work. I'm an idiot! It worked fine when I parked the car 10+ years ago. Pulled it apart, the white grease was like gorilla glue Cleaned it all up and used a light coat of red grease. Works like a champ again.

I drove the GTO to a place about 35 miles north of me,with my wife and son , to get our Friday night fish fry. Got caught in a pretty good downpour on the way home. That’s only the second time I drove that car in the rain. Wipers still work! Surprisingly the wiper blades were in pretty good shape.

Today I will be cleaning and detailing the Firebird after a three day, 700 mile cruise around the mid section of beautiful Wisconsin. I'm part of a local convertible cruising club. This year . along with another couple, my wife and I were in charge of the event. We chose the area around Lodi (south east of the Dells) for our cruise. We had a great time even though the weather could have been better, We were able to go top down for the entire event. We had a total of 20 cars, all brands and models welcome. There were two Pontiacs, both '69 Firebirds. We left Friday morning at 8:30 and made our way along back roads making 3 strops along the way to Lodi. Saturday we took off again heading west and made a big loop through great scenic country again making 3 stops and ending the day with a trip on the Merrimac Ferry.
The car really needs a good cleaning!

You were in my stomping grounds. Wife and I just took the Merrimack ferry two weekends ago. I posted a picture earlier in this thread. Cool!

Loaded the lakester (blown alky hemi Pontiac four) on the trailer, loaded tools, fuel, etc into the hauler (Wangers' 455HO Bandit Suburban)- will depart in the morning for the Loring Timing Association Harvest Festival (700 miles). Hoping to bump my one-mile record in F/BFL.

Driving it everywhere. I've been taking it to work, running errands, visiting my mom. It's insured as a daily driver so no worries.

Today I visited my 69 Firebird 400 in the shop, they are waiting for the correct AC relay so all of my fan positions work. It's also getting a new 2004r pan gasket, new oil sender (NVU gauge set) under warranty, and getting the hose cleaned out for the windshield wiper squirter. Sigh, parts delays...the joy of owning a "1 year only Firebird with factory AC"...but damn I love that car!

What did I do today? I won the dumbazz award.
Last weekend I wanted to check all my taillights, turn signals, headlights, ect. I hopped in the car ( which was in reverse because it’s a 4 speed) turned the key so that turn signals would work, then hopped out to check the lights. I noticed the reverse lights were on now. Hmmm. Bad ground? Electrical gremlin? I couldn’t figure out how turning lights or turn signals on would cause back up lights to come on, totally different circuit.
So anyway I made that tonight’s dreaded project, as I know just enough to screw things up with electrical systems. Well, I guess I’ve been driving my other cars with automatic transmissions too much lately. Of coarse the reverse lights are on if the transmission is in reverse, which is where it always is when it’s parked!
Now to find something else to do.

Drove over to my brother's house and then we went and cruised through the 20th annual Harper Cruise. It has been described as the blue-collar dream cruise. Wow, for a Wednesday night cruise, there were a lot of cars of all types there. What a nice night.
