Default hooker 4901 vs hedman 35260 for 72 Lemans

I know these are cheap headers and that dougs or maddog would be money better spent, but I am trying to go cheap on this motor, as I have plans for something bigger and better in the future.

The motor is a 400, #16 heads, 750cfm qjet, will be getting 1.6 rockers and a lunati voodoo cam. The car has a 4 speed right now, but will be getting an auto, so I need a set that will fit both ways.

The hooker 4901 are smaller primary tubes, I think 1 5/8 and about 189$ on Jegs (summit doesn't carry non-coated versions), and when I enter the part number it still doesn't come up!

The hedman 35260 are bigger at 1 3/4 but are 269$ on summit.

Anyone have experience with the fitment of these? if they hang low? any other header suggestions in the cheapo range that may be better for me?

Default headers

I have both of these headers on 2 different cars , both 70 GTO's automatics.
They both fit good Hooker seems to have a little better ground clearance.
I bought mine a while ago, but I think Butler or Kauffman sold the hedmans for a really good price. Look around or put a ad on this site.

I ended up getting the Hookers.

They come with gaskets. Just wondering if these gaskets are quality or if I should pick up some other ones?

How have the 4901s worked out? I know of a pair for sale but want to know if there are any issues with them. I would be putting them on a 70 Firebird that has a 4spd.
