Welcome to PY!

That is a loaded LeMans!
Their is probably another PHS for the car, might ask and see if you can get it?

It went to Guide Lamp Division-GMC for testing?, inspection?, or whatever then went to Nevada dealer possibly.

Maybe 778 built with the T41 option, don't know how many being convertible.

Somebody should come along on here by this evening who has the data for 455cid LeMans Convertible .
All my files and data are trapped on a laptop right now.

Looks like Guide Lamp (bulbs and lenses) bought the car new through fleet wholesale type program. The 60 in the 60-093 is a fleet wholesale type account.

Highest likelihoods are a company car for vested employee , or an actual employee purchase. It could have also been used for evaluations of their products ... on paper ... or actual.
If you get my drift.
Like the Inland MFG car , and the AC Spark Plug car that were 60-xxx before.

09-545 is the dealership that it was delivered to for new car prep.
Russ Regenold Pontiac in Anderson Indiana

PPT 411689 .., the T is a billing code
Since I can't compare my files right now , memory thinks that is a fleet code.

Door jamb shows April built which could have been any day in April.
Invoice shows May 1st ship date , so likely it was built out in the end of April.
If that is correct , this will be the only invoice for this car.

What is the build week on left side of trim tag ?
Such as 03D , 04A , 04B , 04C etc.,...

Thanks for sharing your car and invoice with us.
Believe the Performance 455 is the 455cid engine YC code with #66 heads.
I don't think that is the 455 HO option.

A 71 GTO 455cid Convertible just sold at Mecum and I think its production was listed at about 90 cars.
Yours should be lower than that - possibly much much lower even in the teens or single digits perhaps.

The. 455cid engine wasn't chosen very often in the A-Body or F-Body

Loffen or Diego should have some production data when-if they see this.
Others may have info about it as well.

Seems like Loffen owns one too , with a chrome bumper. iirc

"G.L. 48732" hand written was probably the Guide Lamp purchase order number.

Since it is original engine with factory VIN stramp , and the cylinder head casting date shows to be April 13 1971.
Lets us know from that the car was built after that date by at least a week or two minimum. So late'ish April.

That would make this the first invoice , and the only invoice on this car.
On May 1st

Very cool hard loaded convertible with some neat born with history , plus its going to be a low production number .
Great Find and Congrats to you

Can you take a picture of the two letter engine code?

Here's the trim tag and block numbers. I really appreciate the help from everyone. Both of my parents worked at guide. From 73 to about 03. Mom made tail lights and dad was on the fire department.

71 LeMans Sport Converts w 455 Dport (YC code) engine = 50

the number of those 50 built w T41 nose is unknown.
early production 71 LeMans & LeMans Sports with T41, don't have record of any.
Will start seeing 71 T41 optioned LeMans & LeMans Sport builds in the Soring of '71.

My father got the car in the early 80s. He said he bought it off a guy he worked with on 2nd shift. But that guy bought it from a guy that worked in the offices. It was wrecked when my father received it but he got a the parts form guide to fix it but never did.

Pretty neat that it has stayed in the Guide Family Tree so to speak.

So at one time , that was an NOS Hood that is on the car now.
Would be worth about as much as the whole car if it were still in the GM box .

Looks like you guys have some other neat cars over there too.
Thanks for sharing the car and details with us on here.

1 of 50 is pretty small company.
And the T41 front end option helps it a lot as far as if you decide to try and sell it.
Appears it will probably need a deep reaching revival.

Baron, I have Fred's numbers and there were 30 T41 Lemans' with the L75 455 of all body styles (of which only 1 was a T41 wagon!), so it's a pretty low number.

Baron,
Lets get your laptop back in order. It may be time to start a 71/72 Lemans Sport Convertible ROLL CALL.
I have an original 72 Lemans Sport Convert 455 H.O. Auto.
I know of few around. Dennis and Dan have some good info on these cars.

I've come across 3 in my life. 2 were lite metallic green and the other was dark green. All were at the mecum indy spring auction.

Great work guys .

So he has 1 of 50 Convertibles as a basis - since all of those 455cid cars were Automatics.

Then a further reduction to 1 of 30 for T41 455cid Auto - all Bodystyles
Subtract the wagon makes 1 of 29
Subtract all 2doors with metal roofs (probably biggest percentage)
Subtract any token 4door freaks

Its probably down in the teens - or less , but that is theoretically guessing.
Each car is it's own entity and 21 of the 29 could be Verts for all we know.

1 of 30 ain't bad for a days work.

The true number for the 71 GTO 455cid Auto Vert that sold at Mecum looks to be 43 .
Their claimed number was 91
Apparently someone added the 455cid and 455HO together and came up with that 91 number
43 + 48 = 91

It was a beauty
Castle Bronze, Sienna interior , White Top
Sold for around $140,000
