The back color of "gray" changed at least three times during the near 28 model year production of all 34 different codes of Rally II wheels. Have gone tons of rally II wheels, & on thevroad, exaed multiple thousands of original paint OEM Rally II wheels, piecing way too many sets together. Besides all the parts & project cars, used to regularly hit tire & wheel shops several times a month.
In the morning, will look at several original JLs & JT's out in the building, do not believe there is any difference in the shade of gray on the insides between a '69 JA, an early 70 model JL, or a late '70-early 71 model JT, just the different colors of fogged ID bands around the centers of each wheel.

I don't know the original paint code, but a real close match is Rustoleum Light Machine Gray.

I concur that it was a light grey, and not a colour with any metallic in it.

Don't know if it helps much but at least gives a visual. This is the never mounted spare from one of my 70 TA's.

I'll second this color. It's not 100 % but damn close. I have an original spare KR wheel and it's just a hair lighter. The spray paint is lighter than the original wheel.
