I have done most of the wrenching on my '71 GTO myself. The only exceptions were the rebuild of the trans and rear end gear swap. I've built installed 2 motors for it over the years, machine work of course was done by others. I stripped the underbody and undercoated it, installed all new suspension and steering components and did a 4 wheel disc conversion when I had access to lift. Paint and upholstery were done by others though I did install a dash cap the 4speed console modifying and automatic shifter to fit in it. I'm 70 now and just drive it and do minor stuff.

Built not bought
It is awesome that so many of you can still do your own work. It is great to get it exactly the way you want it. Be great full and appreciative for what you are still able to do. I am jealous

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped along the way. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I couldn't have done it without you.

That was my goal when I started was to have a car EXACTLY how I wanted it. I have had lots of cars in my past but all were a compromise in some way. I have had all the 64 A body lineup. A Lemans, a GTO, and now the Tempest. I wanted to keep the Tempest too cause I wanted to be different. When the interior is buttoned up think the only remaining change I have is Pro Car buckets and a factory console with the vacuum gauge. Other than that I will be set...for a while. I can tell you guys one thing, if you want aftermarket gauges and are on the fence, spend the money on the Dakota Digital RTX. Yes they are twice as expensive but they are freaking AWESOME. I was on the fence about aftermarket gauges until I saw these in action. My block will be back from the machinist 2nd week of January and then I will start assembly. I am looking to have it on the road by March to go to the Run To The Sun but if not it will definitely be ready by summer.

I guess I fall into this category also.
Almost 5 years to restore in a 2 car garage. Luckily I had a full unfinished basement to store and spread out parts. Wish I had found this site before I started. Would have saved me time, money and some do overs.
