Jay Leno has suffered “serious burns” but is in stable condition following a gasoline fire, the former “The Tonight Show” host confirmed to Variety. Leno said in a statement: “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”

TMZ reported that Leno was hospitalized on Sunday after a fire erupted in his Los Angeles car garage. One of the cars reportedly burst into flames and left Leno with burns on his face. Leno was taken to the Grossman Burn Center for his injuries.

First thing I thought of was the potential most dangerous type of car(s) that Jay owned, dealing with gasoline.
Lighting off a burner on a steam car....dang it!!!
Gasoline is just as dangerous today, as it was 120 years ago.
Just think about how many times this likely happened when these cars came out. And folks were not nearly as aware of the extreme volatility of dealing with gasoline!!!

Jay. Another Get Well Soon, from me!!!

He has a pretty good size staff of mechanics working for him.

An example of how he's a pretty good guy: during the pandemic when businesses had to shut down, he kept all of them employed at full salary even though they weren't working. They also can use his shop to work on their own projects.

Jay was released from the hospital today. There's a photo of him with some of the hospital staff, you can see it here: https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/21/enter...sed/index.html The left side of his face and his left arm look kind of rough but it appears he will heal up okay.

He's only lucky fella. It could have worse. His burns aren't as bad as I thought they would be. But why would you use a lighter around whatever fuel he was using. It could have blown his hand and/or his head off. He should have known better. And someone should have stood by with a fire extinguisher handy.

My main thought was.... Stupid is as Stupid does.

Who said he was using a lighter? I haven't heard that anywhere.

pretty broad statement for not being there, or knowing the temp, humidity and
age of fuel, air around it, etc... Jays a Smart guy , and is ALWAYS learning....

I think he had to get training and a license in order to be able to operate his steam cars (he also has a gigantic stationary steam engine.)

I spent some time at Jays shop.It is massive.Like 100 motor cycles including a steam bike. Before I read anything about what happened I told someone I bet a steam car was involved. They have to fire up the boiler to make the steam.I did not ask how they light it when I was there but seems like they use some gas to do it.Verylucky.Tom

Glad he was release and Glad he is ok, other than the burns. Have heard he was doing his good deed's while in the Hospital.
Heard he was going around visiting the sick kids, good for him. This is Rumour though.

Getting burned is no fun. I spent 8 days in a burn unit; I was blowing flames with Everclear and had a "mishap." 2d and 3d degree on face, chest, left arm. Looked bad for a while but has slowly faded over the years.

Glad to hear Jay is ok.

"The Hollywood Reporter reported that CNBC is canceling his show and others to make way for reality show reruns and other documentary shows."

If that is the case, some other channel will pick up the show......it is
too good a show to stay cancelled.
