When I was 17 (1980) a guy pulled right out in front of my truck and I hit him pretty hard broadside. He took off and I tried to go after him but radiator was busted and left front fender was crushed on the tire. I went to fill out police report and got truck home. The next day the cops called me and said they had found the car surrounded by other cars in a parking lot near an apartment complex. Cop said "The owner is a Vietnamese refugee college student at the SE Oklahoma here in Durant. We have not been to see him yet and thought you might want to talk to him first." Doubt that would happen on today's world...I called some friends and we went over there to take care of business. There was 4-5 of these young Vietnamese in the apartment but I played it well. No violence. I simply told him we did not do things like run from an accident in America and he would need to pay for the damage or I would call the immigration office in Dallas and report his behavior and he would be deported. Hell, it was 1980 and things were different. Neither of us had insurance, nobody I knew back then did except older folks.
He paid the damages, with money from US Treasury checks. Now I that I look back, I had to enlist to get a Treasury check and here they were going to college and getting paid to do it. |

That is just the height of the IDGAF attitude some many people have. No respect for other people's property.

If you can, Please get back with the thread and tell us how this all turned out. I have Hagerty Ins. as well but never had a claim fortunately. I also have a similar car. I am curious how well they serve their clients. That little accident is not going to be real easy to fix. Lots of complex contours and angles. Looks like the bumper is pushed down as well. Certainly not 20K in damage but I wouldn't at all be surprised to see that repair end up in the 5-7K range to do it all in metal and repaint and fix the bumper.

Yes, it does look like there is more to it than just a broken lense. If that were mine I wouldnt be surprised at all with an estimate in the $5-$7k range. But $20k+, thats absolutely ridiculous!!!
A scratched bumper on a new honda will cost $3k to repair (ridiculous as well). |

The area of impact as high as it is indicates that it was most likely a truck that hit the '60. A plastic-bumpered modern car wouldn't have done that amount of damage that high up, IMO. I wonder if the location where the car was parked had any cameras?

Agree. A truck or maybe a trailer at rural king . I told him to go right back and have the store look at their videos but he said Hagerty would pay.

That is strange about the relocation, and where it landed.
Seemed fine to stay where it started in The Lobby. Thanks for the update about the Hagerty claim. And very sorry to hear about your friend, the owner, battling with cancer now. My neighbor across the street is in a battle with complications from pancreas cancer. 68 and looks 88 now, after a year long battle. |

I was wondering the same thing. I must have missed the part where someone said something and someone else got their feelings hurt

The 60 Cat. will be for sale soon. Family has asked me to help with that.
I'm thinking Classiccars.com would be a good place to send it ? I will post the sale in the "correct" thread when I have it. OGR
