AG, in the previous string I agree whole heartedly that going fast with anything is cool, a Pontiac or a 409 Chevy even cooler(my two obcessions).Heads up is even better to go faster each run!!Part of the fun of the old NMCA classes.
Shoot I love seeing the NHRA stockers running 10s in Mach 1 Mustangs! P. Dude and Steve Coombs cars in the 9s are even cooler!

Pontiacs with ANY heads are neat when they are flying!Larry gives me a hard time about my car so I like to give him grief about his. If it beats me great!I hope he as well as the rest of you know its some friendly kidding. I've offered my hands, wrenches and engine lift to Larry and other local Pontiac guys for motor work. Lee Atkinson has used my intake, slicks and convertor. I just want to see Larry get it together too!

Comparing my combination to Jim Hand's is apples to oranges. Different parameters to go fast, same desire. Jim likes all Pontiac stuff and told a friend this summer he had made 2500 runs in the wagon, not sure on Floyd's LeMans runs. They are both cool fast cars!! He's tried alot of stuff for the rest of us to see what works(why a X pipe is going on my car now).I like trying new stuff,(Eheads, roller, maybe EFI/OD tranny in the future, different chassis stuff) but maybe I get time for 30 runs in a good year. The 8 runs I made from the HPP shootout to last years PSN the car dropped to 11.70s from 11.90s in the same weather. No runs since. It can 3-5 runs just to do some timing runs.

New business has slowed me down the past 3 years but this year is looking better, so look out!

Let's get them ALL going fast and get some heads up classes for our Pontiacs with D port, E heads AFBs or EFI so we're not on the brakes at the big end!Swapping ideas and discussions are the best thing we can all do for each other, but we all can have different opinions and that's OK. I've made some big combination mistakes before and will gladly tell anyone what didn't work for me. I think that's what this BB is great for input from everyone!

Skip, Racing is fun, nuff said. I'm sure you'll be turning low 11s with tuning. I know first hand the amount of track time needed to tune a car (without dyno tuning first), you can't get much done in one night even with 8 runs. Since I don't have a big budget, I appreciate cheap, simple and fast combos like Floyds and Jims. I understand there's a lot of time behind Jims car (which is good for me since I can use the info)but he's done it and has a nice set-up. I'm in the process of retiring my street car from racing and building a strip only '67 F/B that should be in the mid 11s. Having fun is what it's all about.

Most of us here know that this is a friendly rivalry and just love to egg you two on!! Competition in any form makes us faster. This will bring more excitement to the Nats. Larry has his work cut out for him, with a new car, stock tranny and 3.08 rear end. Probably has not powershifted since high school If he walks it out and wins, it will be a sad day in E-ville

Skip good response, working out a new combination takes time more then 8 runs. the E-head D-port head debate is always a good good one, my veiw D-ports for the have nots, and e-head for those who can afford them. In the end it's really who has their combination work out the most, no doubt it's allot easzier done with e-heads.

I'm hoping to actually get a few runs at Sealy this weekend. Going to try open headers since the exhaust system was rusted and I haven't got a new one yet. I really guess I'm too old to like open headers too much, car will definitely have exhaust by PSN, probabaly a Dr Gas X .

Larry, I've got a Victor if you want to try it too, but it takes a 4150 baseplate. If you deide to keep the Dominator manifold Braeswell makes a baseplate to bolt 4150 carb bodoes to Dominator mainfolds.Let me know if you need a hand. Maybe we can Jeff to put a motor in too!

Glad to help Larry(over the phone). Any time you need something, just call(I'll be busy). If you need any of your tools, just call(I'll send them over with a friend) Seriously though, the "swapping ideas" theme comes into play here. I can't take all the credit as I have picked the brains of many on this board and others. Testing, tuning and sifting through BS is half the battle. I have been very busy with work and have not even been to Larry's house to see his motor. I commend him for his efforts...It's all you Larry...It's all you

Larry, when is the proposed dyno date?
I have a Victor intake with Dominator top and a Holley Street Dominater intake modified for a Dominator by Dave at SD Performance, both port matched to a SCE 128103 gasket.
Welcome to try these on the dyno.
Also have a Carb Shop Stage III 750 (926cfm) done by Brad Urban (it's good for 600hp).
Also have a set of 1-7/8"/3.5" Headman Race headers you can compare (probably see a considerable differance here)
If your interested contact me.
(we used Westside Performance & Machine in Houston for the last dyno session- excellent service)

thanks for the offers steve. i can't pinpoint a date to reserve dyno time, because the engine isn't put together yet. FWIW, the guy who did the port job on my D's, works at westside so i'll give him a call.

Larry, Can borrow my Demon 850 for a the dyno session. I'll have to pull it off my car, but no big deal.

A slight concern for me and probably you with the increased HP in your new motor in a T Top car! Remember Cashiola's low 11s car that popped windshields!

Braeswell in Tuscon is correct. They also have baseplates with a positive throttle blade stop for less chance of stuck throttles, and new lighter bowls.
