Default Comp 290b cam users

I'm going back to my 290b after my roller damage. I have better flowing heads now, 300 from 240 when I used it before. When degreeing this cam, where would you install it? I don't know how it was done in my old 400.

If have always used it straight up or 2 degrees advanced just to make up for chain stretch.
That 2 degree key is very hard to come by these days!

Yeah, it was in my car when I first broke into the 10's. 370 gear, ati 4500 converter 463" 11.5 compression e- heads. Ran best of 10.81 @124.5. Have since lowered compression and went small .420 lobe solid roller. Car was slightly faster with 290b. 10.90's now.

Do a search in this section.

There was a guy that ran in the low 10's high 9's with that cam with 310 cfm d-ports.

May have been on E85 though.

I've seen that cam in a 450ci IA1 with edelbrocks go 9.90's in a 70 gto back in 2002.
The car was gutted with a glass hood but it wasn't super light.. it was a guy named Dalton out of Chesapeake VA..
The engine was built by Jim lehart ( not a fan so don't kill the messenger) .. it ran good..

It was Jim who built my previous engine with the 290b in.

approx 2009-2013. as i recall it lost a solid flat cam, blew a head gasket, broke a rocker stud (which i think took out the solid roller cam), and threw a rod through the pan driving down the interstate.

since having it redone at another shop it runs great.

kinda sad, i liked jim and it seemed like he did everything he could to make things right. i do not really understand what happened.

Not intending to hijack but what is the minimum/maximum compression range of the 290b6?

I've never used them in a 400 but I put them in at 102 in the 455's.
