Default '65 GTO Dash Harness Replacement

I have a new M&H dash harness and will be replacing and cleaning up the wiring under the dash tomorrow. I'm looking for tips and pointers. Plan on removing drivers seat and working from fuse block down the line. I do not plan on taking out dash or anything. I am hoping everything can be done on my back without having to remove anything.

Non AC car w/ console

Extras include:
Autometer mechanical oil pressure gauge
Autometer mechanical water temp gauge
Autometer wide-band 02
Modern stereo

I used M&H, too. I highly recommend them - their customer service/tech support is great. I went through my old harness and labeled everything, then removed the old harness, laid it next to my new harness, and copied all the labels over.

If you have rally gauges, you need to buy the “rally gauge add-on harness,” too - something I found out mid-job.

I would spend an hour or two on it here and there. I removed both front seats and the steering wheel.

Test everything before you put it back together! I tossed an auto meter tach that someone put in and replaced it with a repop rally one. Had to add a ground to get it to work.

I don't have stock rally gauges, just the Autometer ones. I am unsure how they're wired, but since both (oil & water) are mechanical, it is just illumination.

As opposed to labeling and removing the old harness, I was going to go one connection at a time, remove and replace... Fuse box on down the line.

I have the large laminated color wiring diagram too.

Default Dash harness

I’ve tried it both ways. I would remove the cluster!

Does anyone know how to correctly wire in the console harness? I have the extension as well. All M&H.

I would reach out to Pete Serio. He is a member here. He is very good with gauges and electronics. Can't remember his user name. His website is: http://precisionpontiac.net/

Call M&H and ask them. They'll walk you through it - their tech support is great.
