Default Back in the sadle again - Lookie Lookie at what I got...

My Craigslist find. A half hour from my house!!!! One repaint, correct Martinique Bronze. Automatic. Matching interior and top. Freemont car.

The not so good.....Badly needs suspension (the thing sits so low and just floats along). 389 motor is non numbers matching and is just ugly, so a rebuild will soon follow. Interior is decent but needs a few things (has an in dash tach thats supposed to be from a 64 GTO. Dont know because I dont recognize it. Its where the clock used to be). Almost no options what so ever.

The good.....Really nice paint. Clean underbody. No rust on frame or on floors anywhere. All chrome is really nice. Brand new radial Redlines (Ill sell those and the Rallye 1's). Everything works. Gaps in all panels are pretty good.

It really needs a good cleaning to assess it further. BUt I cant say how unbelievably excited I am to have this car. Ill get it by this weekend. Selling price....wait for it......wait for it......

The seller was having financial problems and really needed to get rid of the car fast. So... I bought it less than 24 hours of his posting. Final selling price....$27,000

Paul, I used to live down the street from that car. I used to see it in his garage all the time when I drove by. I was always going to stop and say hi but never did.
Congrats on the purchase, its a beautiful car!

Way to upgrade, Old Gold 66! I mean Old Blue 66!

I had a '66 YS 389 until recently, too... well a non-original engine means UPGRADES!

That one is a little nicer than this car. It needs a motor rebuild. Its seriously leaking oil from every place imaginable on the engine.

What a beautiful beautiful car. I love that color combo.
For fun I am always checking out 66-67 cars and I think that top color is extremely rare. They're almost always black or white.

Enjoy it!

Thanks Mike! Small world.

He was selling the car because he need the cash. Super nice family.

As I understand it, the car was bought to honor their son who passed and loved old cars (GTO's?) about 25 years ago. The whole family loves the car and I think they consider it a part of the family too. Looks like they are having a tough time letting go.

I really value the history of these cars. I once bought a 64 Bonne vert from the original owner. I really didnt even like the car that much but I bought it because the daughter told stories about how she learned how to drive it when it was new. I just loved the history of the car. This one comes close. When I get the car Saturday, Im going to sit and talk with the family who will all be there about what they treasured most about it. That will really make me feel good.

They know its going to a good home because this is my first GTO and a convert non the less. Its sorta my dream car. Ive been wanting this car all my life. I said Id never sell Old Blue. After 12 years, I did and it was only because I wanted a car just like this.

Nice car, Paul. Out of all of the cars I've owned, I had the most enjoyment out of my '65 GTO convertible. It's the one I miss the most, even after 30 years. I bet you'll love it!

Congratulations Paul! You didn't beat him up either - I hate it when people take advantage of others down on their luck selling their dreams.

I'd be interested in the Rally I's if/when you go to sell them, don't need the tires. I'd like to put the I's on my 68 GTO when I get it done - mix the old with the new.
