Default Interesting 65 Cat?

Hi guys, I’ve always been an A body owner but have come across an interesting 65 Catalina that has me intrigued. It is a white painted top over either Nightwatch or Blue Charcoal (pics aren’t the best). It interests me because of the color combo and the fact that it is a 2 dr sedan. How rare are they? I’m calling the guy tomorrow to learn more since his camera takes bad pictures and I cannot tell the condition. He says only rust is surface in the trunk.

Also, how hard is it to replace a heater core in one, no AC?
Thanks for any insight you might have.
Joe

I'd jump on it if the price is right - sounds like a neat car. Don't know about rarity but who cares - a 2dr post cat is a sweet ride and you probably won't come across another one in decent shape. I think there is a build thread on here somewhere with a similar car (fontaine blue?) that is awesome.

It is a cool car for sure. I researched this morning and found a place on the web that said like 9526 were built.

Replacing the heater core is very easy if you have the inner fender off. I haven't tried it with them on. That's a good time to check the blower motor and all of the seals. Hope you get some good pictures for us.

That's the number I have as well. Not rare, but somewhat uncommon compared to the total number of big cars built that year.

Pretty rare these days. Back when I was a teenage car expert, nobody wanted them but now I would love one!
Saw this one while out junking last summer. Had to do a double take.

I’ve never seen a 65 2D post with the divider trim strip for painted top. This one has the B90 side window trim too. I prefer without tho.

Agreed but how many are left? It is just a 389 2 bbl car but has ps and pb. Needs a steering wheel

Regardless of what Stuart says, full sized post cars are very rare. I have a ‘66 and have only seen two. One I looked at to buy and didn’t, and the one I own. How many were built doesn’t accurately tell you how many survived.
I think they are the best B body cars but I guess I’m biased.

I wouldn't care about #s or rarity, if you like the look (which I do) I'd be a buyer. nice color combos and a painted roof is very cool. And the post cars with that heavy stainless trim framing the windows is awesome. My 63 Safari has that. I've crossed over to the Darkside several years back. Do it!

Well, was planning to look at it tomorrow but got a call from the owner stating he had to file chapter 13 and the car is locked up for now. Says he cannot sell it as the proceeds would go to his debtors. Supposed to call me if/when it changes (bummer).
