I meant 1968 Red GTO
Quote:
The GTO launching with the D/S in the rear quarter window and Dave Warren standing in the starters box with his back to you, has a Black rear deck, a white pin strip along the tops of the rear quarter panels up an around the top of the rear window and a dealer license plate. A dealer plate has three numbers (3) a small letter D than two (2) more numbers. Look very closely athe the details of the cars! ie 234 D 56

One of my NMCA racer buddies had a red car with the black deck, and I think there may have been (at least) one more but I don't recall what color. K

1968 Royal Bobcats
Keith,
You have mentioned the silver one you had. I'd like to drive it home that several 1968 and 1969 GTO's that rolled out of Royal Pontiac had the Bobcat paint scheme. Not just one white one with gold trim in 1968 and one crystal turquoise one with with trim in 1969. I beleive I also mentioned that my friend Les Goodman had a 1968 turquoise GTO 428 with white accents done by Royal too. Jerry Will's brother, I have to use Jerry's name because I don't remember his brother's first name, worked for George Delorean in 1968-69 and still has his '69 white GTO Ram Air IV with crystal tourquise accents that he bought new. Low mileage car but he refuses to bring it out. Jerry has a 1969 Judge. If look closley at the pictures you will also notice that two of them have black around the rear window and over the trunk. But one has stripes to simulate a luggage but in paint. There was one done on Royal Bobcat on the west coast that George Barris did in flat black and the trunk stripes. This could be the one pictured being driven away by Milt. You still have to explain how you get your pictures in the main body of the "Post Reply"!? LOL Eric

Do you know how to copy and paste? If so, it's pretty simple. First, you have to have the image saved somewhere on a website...like photobucket.com or flick'r. You could also have it saved here on PY in your personal album. If you don't have one, create one. It's in your user profile. Let's say you have a picture saved in your album here on PY. Go to the picture you want to 'imbed' into your post and click on it. You'll see two 'boxes' beneath the photo. One says ''picture url'' and the other says ''bb code''. Left click the 'bb code' one in order to highlight it. Right click the highligted area and left click 'Copy'. Once you've copied it, now you can enter one of your fascinating posts. Now left click on the page to place your cursor where you want the picture to appear. Right click there. The 'copy' 'paste' box will appear. Left click 'paste'. The url address you just copied from the other page will appear there. When you enter your post, the photo will show up.

Brain Ballish and the Royal Judge
Here are some cars that Brain Ballish did leading up to building Jim Wangers "Black Bird".
First the 1969 Royal Bobcat Pontiac Judge. Last paragraph on separate reply.

Here is another 1968 GTO Test from earlier in model year. There may have been three red GTO Royal Bobcats. 2 four speeds, one with console, chrome tip exhaust and under hood trouble light, the other without these items, and one automatic. Along with a dark green 4 speed.
Royal would always prepair two idential cars and send people like John Politizer, Dave Warren or Billy Schmitz to run against each other. They would make one change on a single car re run the two cars to see if it improved the performance or not. Then they would make the change to the other car to improve it. One change to one car at a time out on Main St. This is the 4-speed with the console, chrome tips and underhood light. Note no rear quarter panel GTO emblem yet. Early production.

How about a little tech stuff tried at Royal Pontiac first. Tom Nell of Pontiac engineering developed the "quick shift" package before B&M copied it.
Here is Dave Warren show how they do it and installing it in a turbo 400 Bobcat. Appears to be a Lemans on the track with the Royal Bobcat emblem on the door and pin stripes. GTO's did not have P O N T I A C across the rear deck lid.

Here is a test of the 1962 Catalina Royal Bobcat with all of the dressing. Full paint scheme and even the dealer installed Motorola FM receiver. This was Jim Wangers personal Dealer supplied "Demo" car. Jim would also have a "company" car from GM engineering and a "personel" car.
Remember Jim did all of the early magazine road test of Pontac Royal Bobcats before complaints by another PMD dealer. Then for 1964 on ward Jim was not to be featured in the lime light. Continue next reply

1962 Royal Bobcat continued. Here you will see the other offering by Ace Wilson's Royal Pontiac.
The all black 1962 Grand Prix with the a vinyl top was Ace Jr's. It sported a 389 with a Paxton Supercharger. Win Brown worked on this project. They called it the "Win and Andy Show". Standing for Win Brown and Andy Granatelli. Andy now owned some additive , called STP, that he had to take when he bought the Paxton Super Charger co. The expert on Supercharging was the inventor of the Royal Bobcat pakage Frank Redicker. Frank worked on Aircraft superchargers while in the service. Frank also worked for an Oldsmobile dealership and had a Supercharged F85 that ran pretty strong. Frank was not a salaried employee of Ace Wilson's Royal Pontiac. Frank was part of Royal Racing team's/PMD's after hours engineering staff. (Some day Jim Wangers will explain the entire working that only he can and SHOULD) As soon as Win had Jr's GP running he and Chuck Broomfield took the car onto Woodward where they ran across Norm Ruby. Everyone new Norm's Ford was fast. Well, They ran and Norm's car was still faster. LOL
