Default Chrome Valve covers

Who makes the best, most correct looking chrome valve covers for a 1963 Grand Prix? I see the ones at Ames, but they both have center breather holes. My painted stock (I believe) ones have one center hole and one at the front.

I actually hadn't considered that. I'd have to look into the cost. Thanks.

I don't rightly recall, and it was 20+ years ago so the price wouldn't be applicable today anyway. Check around to see if there are plating companies local to you. A major part of the cost of plating is in the preparation, so if yours have dents or rust it would be best to find some in nicer condition to start with.

I found this website for a plating shop in the Chicago area that says valve covers will cost in the range of $140 to $275: https://www.thechromeshop.com/automotive-price-list/

Thanks! Mine are actually in really good shape, so they'd be good candidates for chroming. I'll check into it.

I priced a pair of 1962 cover a couple years ago locally and it was too high for me. Maybe in other parts of the country it would be cheaper.

I would guess that any good plater would be over $300 for a set of valve covers today.

I got a quote from a local place for just that, $300. I guess I can deal with the breathers in the wrong spot and get a set from Ames for 1/2 that.
