Very true, about a plain spacer or square-bore. On our SS/KA SD-455, we used a race ported T1 and the "Rocket Box", which is anything BUT a plain spacer. The combination worked well enough to set an NHRA National Record in 1977. As far as the "double back" version, we never ran one, but IIRC Billy Joe Moravitz did in addition to Don Kennedy. The intake manifold of choice back then was the Dough Nash (Warrior), if you could find one! IIRC, John Angeles and Art Peterson both ran a Nash at that time.
