Default "Mystery" fuel starvation

I've been having a mysterious fuel starvation issue that comes and goes and I think I finally put my pea brain on it. I think when I get low on fuel and nail the throttle I'm sloshing the fuel to the back of the tank and starving it for fuel. I don't nail it that hard very often and I got these new sticker tires that coincide with the issue being a little more pronounced so it's taken me a while to figure it out. It appeared to go away the other day out driving after I filled the tank and then it clicked. I know, I'm not the quickest... lol Anyway, other than a fuel cell is there anyway to make the stock fuel pick up work better? I don't really want to put a fuel cell in it but extra fuel capacity would be nice.

Any suggestions or snide remarks are welcome,

I made a custom pick-up for my tank quite a few years ago, but it only made a marginal difference, as I was still able to uncover it on hard runs. The cure was to put a sump on the bottom of the stock tank, which puts the fuel pick-up point at the rear of the tank and the lowest point in the tank. Zero issues since making that upgrade over 10 years ago, and the car has been low 11's at the track with a Q-jet carb on a stock intake.....Cliff

Thanks for the suggestion Cliff. It's actually kind of fun to have this issue. this is the first car I've owned that ran strong enough to have it. Cool! lol

Do you know if anyone sells a tank already set up that way?

I spent quite a bit of time moving the pickup around without success on the street car. One time I had it extended another 6" to the rear and touching the bottom of the tank. Nothing seemed to work any better than the stock location.

Only thing I get nervous about is if you get rear-ended with the sump hanging down that low. What would probably only scratch a stock tank could shear off the added sump.

Now if there were a way to fix a baffle behind the pickup tube...

I'll just have to look into it.

Does anyone make new stock replacement tanks for the second gen. TA's?

Follow Mr. Ruggles thoughts, i did what he says and man it works perfect. Even a 13 second car, build fuel system like a 10 sec. car and go out and have fun.
