DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MUCH VACUME A 73 S.D. SHOULD PUT OUT? CURRENTLY MY S.D. IS SHOWING 11 INCHES OF VACUME WHICH SEEMS TO LOW AND I'M TRYING TO SEE HOW MUCH IT SHOULD BE BEFORE I START MESSING WITH THE ENGINE.

If it's a stock SD, that's WAY too low. I would expect to see at least 15" of vacuum at idle on a stock SD455.

Hope this helps,
Lloyd

What Johnta1 is hinting at is that the SD heads have the valve cover bolts protruding into the intake ports.

If these are leaking (any of the bolts are loose
or missing you will get low idle vacuum).

A good fix is to install (epoxy) in set screws
long enough to just stop short of the intake port and still allow a nut and washer to seal the valve cover/ gasket to the head. Tom V.
