I have a Chris Alston cage in my car. You can't go wrong with Chris Alstons Chassis works.

I went through the same thing just over a year ago. I ended up going with S&W. Mine's a first gen but here's my thread about it with pics:

Competition Engineering Complete Roll Cage Kits 3222-K, I put this kit in a couple 2nd gen birds a few years ago. You will have to do some cutting but they do fit pretty good. I didn't have any interior though.

do not buy a kit, have someone who knows what they are doing measure up your car and bent up the tubing for you.. if you are doing mild steel only use D.O.M tubing... but if you are going thru the time and money for a bar/cage do a moly one from the get go!!!!

I had some issues with tubing thickness on my CA ChassisWorks chassis kit. When checked with the sonic tester during the cert not one of the tubes had the .125 wall it should have been. Do some research or as the aformentioned post said, have one done.

I had bought a S&W roll bar kit, then decided to have a local guy put in a cage, and use whatever he could or just start from scratch. He said much of the kit was a really good fit.

Mild steel cage is .134 wall not .125 and I highly doubt that Alston would put out a sub standard product. My cage certed just fine.

Custom cage is 100 per weld here.

So a 6 point is 1200.

Lots of times you need to order .134" wall 1-3/4" DOM EWS tubing to be sure it will pass the NHRA Rule Book Spec.

DOM .120 wall is a gamble because of the wall thickness tolerances allowed.

The NHRA rule book says 1-3/4" X .118" min wall and that's the reason many roll cage fabricators will only use EWS .134 wall, (they know it will pass certification).

I also used a Jegs kit in the 92 Grand Am that I built and it passed certification. They checked every bar in that cage too. Main bars on mild steel to need to be 1 3/4" to pass.

Bars need to be 1 3/4 for a roll bar for a cage the bars need to be 1 5/8 ..118 for mild steel but like Tom said most use .134 to ensure that the bars Will pass.
I believe there is a plus or minus .006

I had mine custom installed, in CM, everything fits right where I wanted it.

IMHO, its worth the added expense.

Send me your address and I will ship you a section of the tubing and you can measure it for yourself. I know how to measure wall thickness. And this tubing is not even close to .134. If it was Ken Gentry from NHRA, who is the one that certed the chassis would not have said some of the tubing is right at .118.
