Default winter upgrades?

Since the season is about over for most everyone just wondering what upgrades or improvements people have planned for the off season.

Well, for me it will be a torque converter, throttle pedal and linkage (can't deal with the cable anymore), and then my junk will be off to the body shop for a few weeks. Even if it is slow, it can still look a little better.

Thumbs up

Rack and pinion, chrome moly cage, window net, trans brake, new PTC convertor, tie front end down, some weight reduction, And maybe begin work on a new short block, really pushing the limits of a stock block now! all this is a God Willing situation...

I've done a few turbo matches for production engines. I'm an NA guy all the way though! Anyone can bolt on squeeze or a turbo and go fast. :-)

I'm a NA guy to but get to point it way to hard on parts to go fast. I'm getting old and hate a steady maintenance program to go fast. Just thinking.
Maybe Tom V or TQ can suggest some educational stuff.

Valve springs have gotten a lot better in the last 5 years. PAC have good solutions with more durability as compared to 10 years ago. Get a good set of springs, good rod bolts with a solid rod and turn up the RPM. Heavy stiff parts are your friend.

Me too, but it's not looking good for this year, so I guess it counts for next year.

Very true on that but there in lies the chit...high rpm..IMO.
I've got custom pistons and rods, forged crank,IAII block,Tiger heads, titanium valves, nextech springs, 55 mm cam,
huge push rods and will step up lifer size next..Still too much maintenance for a old guy..
With boost I figure I can clam down valve train a lot..JMO...and yes,......I'm a rookie.

I just think a turbo would soften the blow on drive train too..leave softer and cut it loose at 330' or 660' mark and hold on !!
Only bad thing is I wouldn't fit in any nostalgia stuff....for the most part..

But I like it either way...

Planning to start the season with 2 short blocks for the Boss Bird. That will give us the ability to begin leaning on it a little. We have been super conservative because we only had 1 of everything. If someone on the board would buy the Grocery Getter, we could get really serious with the Boss Bird next year!! It is offered at fire sale prices now. PM Eric or myself for details if interested. Good luck to everyone.
