Where can I find a chart that tells the years for casting numbers. I have a rearend with 9799100 . Just for curiousity did BOP use the same numbers and axle codes? Thanks for great website.

'70-72 LATE Pontiac 8.2 Gray iron center housing. Axle tubes could have outboard flat spots on top for a '70 GP, or could be regular round tubing all the way to the axle flange.
BTW, no such thing as a "BOP" 8.2. Early Buick 8.2's, Early Pontiac 8.2's, Late (68-70) Buick 8.2's and LATE Pontiac 8.2's.

Might also ck the casting date in the webbing, the 9799100 gray iron casting 8.2 Pontiac 10 bolts were also used in many '69 model Tempest-GTO's.
It's very odd but I have several clean '69 Pontiac 8.2 gray iron rear housings which were originally 3.23 STT GrandPrix rears, each has a different casting number. Thee '69 GP 3.23 coded housings are typical sealed axle bearing housings, not the later tapered axle bearing Pontiac 8.2 housings.
