Ok. I see a mid plate mount. Do you have a front plate mount? The rails will move in without the center in there. Be sure before you do the cross member, take in account the distance between the rails. The most noticeable will be up front where the front plate would bolt in and your radiator support.

Are you keeping track of the weight of the pieces removed?

Is there any value in welding bars in between the frame rails to protect that dimension from changing?

Cars are built with tension in them... it's like when you back half a car you should weld it to a jigg before cutting everything out..it will shift. Glad to see u welded in a bar..

I've seen that mod done where it bolts in so it can be removed to pull the pan, but I can't remember where.

mine is like that in my 64. I have two half inch bolts that allow removing the crossmember. THe nuts are welded inside the box tubing. I have never tired to remove pan in th ecar but it should be doable. It also makes putting diaper on a little easier.

Yes it is. Just to change oil with the diaper, for me is a major PITA. I can't believe someone has not come up with a better "mouse trap". SMFH
