Default Putty around fresh air vents? HELP!

When I puller off my side kick panels there was a clay-like putty that sealed the side fresh air vent to the panel. There was a large roll of it that encircles the vent. It isn't body putty or seam sealer. What is this stuff and where do I get it?

You can use plumbers clay/putty, has just about the same characteristics, used for sealing. Also used in the heating and air conditioning industry.
