Need help with window date codes, PHS Options Etc.etc.
Couple of questions maybe someone can help with that I have not been able to find much info on.
PHS shows Glass S/R WS option. Does that mean only the windshield is softray? If a car came with AC was softray glass part of the "AC Package" or was still optional and not required? My 70 judge built in Sept 69 at Arlington has me stumped trying to figure out the glass date codes (yeah I know some are scratching their heads saying really??) My quarter glass both sides is dated June 69 and both are softray. the pass door is clear glass dated Aug 69. THe drivers door glass is in a million pieces inside the door. My Baltimore built 70 GTO has the same Glass S/R WS option on the PHS and it has AC but none of the glass is tinted. Both cars are numbers matching drive train but I am wondering about the glass. Is it numbers matching too? |

The PHS option is for the tinted windshield only.
Sounds like your Baltimore Judge may have had the windshield glass replaced? Not positive on if the tinted was part of the AC option. (I had always thought it was for the windshield)

I know the windshield should be tinted, I trying to figure out the side glass. If it is supposed to be clear in the Arlington car then I need three windows.

If the Arlington car PHS shows GLASS S/R WS then only the windshield is soft ray. All the other glass would be clear.
FWIW the PHS code for all sofy ray glass is GLASS S/R AL (Soft Ray All) The Baltmore cars (at least for 1969) all were factory built with PPG glass. So that is a good indicator if the glass is original or not. The repro glass is all LOF so finding good PPG glass either clear or tinted is getting tougher to find. |

Well then, guess the Arlington car only has one original window (the pass door) left in it.
Anyone need some soft ray quarter windows, I have a pair to trade. Looks like the Baltimore car has all the original side glass, all 4 windows are PPG and the windshield is LOF. Haven't checked the back glass yet. |

If you still want the info from my car still, let me know. I took some pictures and wrote down what I have. I'm not sure if I have the originals either. Thanks, Marc.

According to the 69 factory literature any car with AC required (but not included in the AC option) full tinted glass.
However about 2-3% of the AC cars I have PHS's for have a S/R-WS option on the PHS. I don't know if that means the car actually had only the windshield tinted or it was just a billing error. Never seen one in person.
