Default '73 Emission Line

How does the emission canister hook to the engine? Is it simply just a vacuum line to the carb from the canister? (1973 Formula). Or is there more too it? Any one have pictures?

Should be a steel line running underneath the rad support...charcoal cannister to hard line below master cylinder....it vents the fuel tank.

Yep, I understand all that but what I'm trying to figure out is the line from the canister to the carb? Is that just one single rubber vacuum line? And what is the routing of this line (angled straight over to the carb? ...up the fenderwell, then behind the a/c compressor to the carb???). And what port on the carb? I'm thinking bottom front left (as you're looking at the carb).

Thanks!

Canister sits so the outlets face the carb. The right one, as you are looking at the carb too, goes to the metal pipe under the rad support. The left has the much bigger line that goes to the front of the Q jet. On an AC car its routed under the compressor and up over the valve cover usually from the factory.
EDit, as you can see by the Engine color, this is an earlier model 73

My hose routes under the compressor bracket to the canister, as you can somewhat see in the picture.

One more question on this. The port on the canister is about twice the size of the port on the carb. Was there some sort of a reducer at some point as the same size hose is not going to work on each end? Unless I am running it to the wrong port on the carb (which may be the case... looking again I see there is another port just below and right of the fuel line). I was under the impression before it went to the far left lower port).

The port on the drivers side front of the carb goes the the canister. The smaller port on the pass front goes to the thermal vacuum valve sitting in front of it coming from the intake manifold. Hope that helps. If not, get me your email addy again and I'll send you a few articles on the emissions vacuum line setups for the various '73 styles.

Yes, the port that you described on the driver's side of fuel line.

SD73-I believe you and I discussed some of this vacuum line setup, but I'd be interested in any more info you have as well. I still have questions some of their routing. I would still love to try and get original lengths of the hoses.

Hello Pepi, I think we did. Actually these are the same magazine articles I've had for a few years now that I've forwarded to a few members. I too am interested in the colors and lengths as well. It's one of those projects I keep wanting to get too.

Any of you who are interested in the articles just PM me your email addy.
