Stan,
The dyno video in the remarks with the limited cam info. I will suggest the the net valve lift might not utilize the cfm flow capability of the cylinder head. .

This my 400 brought up to a 461 with a Victor on it. Heads are around 320cfm ported by Butler.
Is that a 4150 or 4500 intake? What carb did you run with your dyno session? Thanks

So your combo with the (nice numbers by the way.)

Ok. So the 4150 would be much better than what the OP is proposing with a Dominator. Wish I would have had one of those 4150 Victor to try when I was doing dyno session. Thanks for the info.

A tid bit if interested here....
jwcfbd combo used Comp QXI hydraulic roller lobes. 13455B / 13484B HR110 The QXI Series lobe profiles are designed to provide the highest available valve lift for modern cylinder head ports, along with excellent stability and the broadest possible power range in hydraulic roller applications. Designed for both street and racing use, these lobes were developed in two degree intervals to allow small tuning variations between the long and short runners of single 4bbl type manifolds. .

I think we are getting away from a "real" 400.
400 blocks with 4.21 or 4.24 cranks are 455s. Once you bore a 400 block and put a stroker cranks its for all intents and purposes a 455. This 400 build, I say DO IT. Just try both the T2 and 4500 Victor and see which one runs better. Its part of the fun of the hobby. |

Same here, I think you'll be surprised with the victor @ more power.
But I could be wrong too. Go for it. GT |

Two conversations going on here, performerrpm and jwcfbd
jwcfbd, I will suggest your cam is not the issue itself. The choice of intake for a limited hood clearance application compared to the level of performance with the Victor intake will need to be taken into consideration. That and keep in mind your ported cylinder heads have a tall intake port opening, this could influence your intake choice and its ability for a proper port match to the heads. Note Butler suggests their SPM-5410-2 gasket which is rated with a 2.350" tall port opening. .
