Thumbs down OUCH!!!!!!! That'll definitely leave a mark.

I'd be thinking about teardown and magnaflux myself.........

I never lost a freeze plug (due to freezing) without FURTHER damage.

Probably NOT what you want to hear........my condolences........

How cold is it there, I haven't heated my garage yet and even in single digits outside nothing inside has even came close to freezing

I had one push out of a 68 400 block and I was damn lucky, I just drove it back in and refilled the cooling system with no further leaks. As has been already said though, the chances of getting away with it just pushing the plug out, without cast iron cracking is remote. I've seen way more blocks crack from freezing than I've seen plugs push out without further damage.

KW ceramic block or Bars leaks block sealer will repair small cracks. Stitching with overlapping threaded plugs, or having it welded by a competent cast iron welder can save your block sometimes. If there is an external crack you really need to look at the valley inside too as they crack on both inside and outside sometimes.

Thumbs up

Get a new one a use a sealer around it. Tap it in. You can feel the pressure installing to determine if it fit's correctly.

I had the same thing happen. Saw a puddle and a plug. Put a new one in and it never gave me any trouble.

If you don't run antifreeze, can you be drain all the water and be confident with it dry over the winter?

I had the same thing happen. I used the same freeze plug with copper sealer . It working fine. That was 2 years ago and its still fine. If you see no cracks. Put it back in and try it. If it doesn't leak then you should be good to go...

Good luck...

The LAST thing you want is RTV silicone.

Silicone in an aerosol can is a lubricant. You want a greasy core plug?

1. Installing a core plug distorts it. Don't re-use them.

2. Any non-silicone, non-Teflon gasket sealer will work fine. Copper Coat, Indian Head, High Tack, Gasgacinch, Permatex 1, 2, or 3, etc. On my engines, I use cheap epoxy such as JB Weld.

I use the black permatex , it's nasty but works great fro core plug. But if it poped out get a new one if you don't have any cracks in the block. I don't know anyone that didn't have a cracked block when a core plug came out from freezing. I hope you have better luck.

Ok Ill get a new one and use permatex. Wish parts stores were open at this time of a.m. LOL Maybe pickup a lottery ticket. Biggest thing first is to drop the oil plug and check for water.

Once you put the plug in I would let it sit a short time then I would fill it with water and do a pressure test on it (thru the rad) and see if the system holds pressure or not and if it does then I would drain the water and put antifreeze in it and run the engine if it holds pressure you can add a can of bars leak just for insurance and peace of mind-----BOB
