I like it... I seroiusly doubt you will find a drop in KIT... but i bet you could make something work, had a friend that put a 327 in a vega back in 1976 one time riding in it i had my fingers up between the door and the body with my elbow out the window, I could feal my fingers getting pinched from the body flex, he didnt do much stiffining if any but yeah Fun..

would be easy with sbc alot of v8 monza's out there for the swap parts. My brother had a 77 monza spyder with a sbc and it was as quick as my firebird formula untill i put a 455 in it.

v8 in a astre
ii got a 78 sunbird factory v8 4 speed i was looking into doing the same thing since i have about `10 running 455 engines on the shelf from 70-74 .... after doing some real research on doing this the amount of modification it requires is just not worth it period first off you have to cut the inner wells, find strong enough springs to hold the heavy bastard up, the steering shaft has issues (wider block than sbc) than the custom cooling system needed, and i was warned about oil pan issues
look i am a poncho purist but there is a point where its just not worth it..... my solution is to kick the factory 305 out , i got my hands on a chevy crate 383 hd engine 1500 miles on it and i tracked down a 4 speed borg warner 6 ringer from a 82 firebird s/e ( has trail bar on it to connect ot the axle .. so now the 305 goes out the sabre saw (saginaw4 speed ) goes out and 340 hp and 450 ft lbs of torque goes in and it will twist the factory 308 posi rear its simple its easy and with a 2800 or less pound car should scoot and still have room for after market a/c thats already there |

I think the Canadian car was called Chilly Willy. Not sure but was an Astre that looked like Pro Stock from the '70's. There was an article in one of the Pontiac mags about it. Several years ago. Found it here. Hope it helps,
