I have a 400 pontiac engine without timing marks. Most pontiac engines have forged marks in the timing chain cover my doesn't? Looking for any advice or help. thanks ANDY.

It's probably a 76-77 timing cover that used an abbreviated damper.They used a bolt on timing plate.

Andy,
Here is a few ideas to get you by....You could use a pointer,wire or indercater..A chevie type may work(glue or cemment to cover) You might need a cover to line up the location on the cover..... I would say it's at 10 o'clock on the passenger's side of the motor...Using that wire/pointer it could be fastened to a bolt? Location is the key.. good-luck...........Dave...1033/stock |
