Hurst told me I will have to modify my floor pan and console with the new style competion plus shifter's. In my 74 Gto with a M21 I don't want to cut up my car!!!! and I didn't have a problem with the old style shifter. Is anyone using the New competion Plus Shifter's

I had a M21 in mine when I bought it, in the trunk actually! I ended up using it for a while till I decided to go automatic(TH 400) The guy I bought the car from had cut the floor pan to hell and I had to do alot of patching to it to get the M21 to work right! I had a Hurst shifter but, not sure what model as I bought it used to get the project on it's feet. It was the straight handle with the short throw. It worked real well but, it wasn't really what I would of done had I gotten the car with good floor pan!

Thank's Gooatee I'll have to look for a older style shifter. Is your car a floor shift? Are you using the 4 speed console? I was just wondering if there is a difference between the manual and automatic consoles

My car is a floor shift car but, I did not get the original shifter or console with the car! The console is the same, as far as I can remember, less the insert for the shifter itself! There is an insert for manual and one for auto I am pretty sure. Sorry I can't help you more! I actually am now using an aftermarket auto shifter for the TH400 I have in the car now. I mounted it directly to the floor. I am entertaining the idea of picking up a console to modify for use with this shifter to give it that closer to stock look!

Have a m/t console out of a '74 GTO, open for offers, or will trade for non a/c pulleys.

I used a Hurst Indy shifter in my first 74 with no modifications. Bolted right in, shot throws, only downside is the shifter sas a short stick (no jokes here) so you had to lean over a little to reach it. This was in a car that was originally a 3 speed stick. Counsoles are the same except for the inserts.

What is the going rate for a bare bones console? I don't want the rally guages, just the console and maybe the inserts.

I found a new reproduction console for a little over $100.00 from Classic Industries - they have the gauges and shifter inserts as well.
