Metal or plastic rear valence?

How early was the car built? Is it possible the tail lights are factory?

I would agree on the offer - originally discussed price is not appropriate for the condition of the car - not a quality survivor, just a nice old car which was enjoyed. I would guess something closer to, but above what Pat just spent for his.

Neat find!

The data plate indicates a "6A", so no way they're original lenses - unless it's a factory goof. Stranger things have happened, I suppose. But . . . Walter syas that it appears that it was hit in the rear at some point, and I agree by the way the rear bumper fits. I'd guess that the "divider" lenses may have been the last ones available new, so that's what the car got when it was repaired.

Oh, and it's a metal valance. I'd bet the OEM was plastic, and it's LONG gone.

And, that's EXACTLY what I had in mind as my offer, what Pat paid!

Question

From what I've been told, a white console is correct on this interior. Basically everything should be white - excepting the carpeting, dash and column.

???

Tough one, Lloyd. I guess it's a lot like the canine world ... not a real good looker (like a sharpei, or insert your own less than gorgeous breed here _____), but the pedigree is beautiful .

It'll take some work to get this one back to its pedigree standards.

The one conundrum to me ... since he loaded it with just about every option available, why not the 8 track player too? That's rhetorical. I just wondered.

I just got off of the phone with the seller, and made my $25K offer. He is supposed to let me know something tomorrow, but I'm NOT counting on him coming down from the $37K asking price very far, if any.

I'll keep ya'll informed.

A white interior should have a white console too. My T41 lemans with white interior ..had the car since new...has the white console. My convertible I had last year had a black console with the white interior, but the guy I bought it from dyed it black from the original color...white. I think over the years people thought a black console looked better with the white, and changed them.

Thumbs up Tail light Q's

Hope it works out for ya! How exciting. Thanks for posting details & pics.

You mentioned the taillights are incorrect? I have a '72 (LLM) with bezels just like that, which I thought [up until now] to be original to the car, since the rest of my car is so original...

Do you think I might have the wrong year bezels, or just that the HO cars got different tail bezels in '72, or that the LLM model got carryover bezels from '71?

You guys are right, my memory ain't quite what it used to be - the console is white, but it has a black (obviously wrong) lid on it.

Yep, the '72 Luxury LeMans did indeed use the '71 lenses with the divider "fins". Your lenses are correct.

Hey Mark, you're right. I forgot that yours is a Monarch Yellow car!

BTW, no answer yet on my $25K offer. I left a message this morning, we'll see.

You know what is perfect about this car?

Just detail it up and enjoy it - drive it - you don't have to worry if you go past your budy's house and their sprinkler is on because you won't have to spend the next 20 hours wiping off the undercarriage!
