Default Used exh parts warning .

If your reusing exh headers or manifolds along with a open or worse yet a closed exh system on a good sealing motor and these parts have sat around long enough to form rust on the inside, then you likely have problem approaching.

This rust scale will come loose and during overlap get sucked back into the chamber and effectively sand blast your cylinder walls and rings.
Many times rust traces can even be found on the back side of intake valves and stuck to valve bowls.

Next time your headers are off and before you bolt then back on stamp the collector end on the ground and marvel at the crap that comes out of them!

Good reminder.

There's a youtube video of Famous Guys (Lake Speed Jr. and "someone else"?) doing exactly that. Surprised me when I saw the pile of debris that fell out of the header collector.

I watched a heap of Lake Speed Jr, Total Seal, Rottler "honing" "machining" "assembly" and "shop tour" videos some months ago. Pretty sure that was one of them...but I can't find it on youtube now. Maybe it wasn't LS Jr. after all. Kaase?

Kaase it is. 30:40 timestamp. But watch the whole thing.

Lake does some introduction, Rottler sponsors. I'm not totally senile.

Yes, thanks it was the Kasse one that I saw years ago and after last night when I was helping a buddy put used headers back on his F body I recalled what to do first along with afterwards blasting compressed air down each tube multiple times.
