Default T stat info

Here’ s some handy info I dug up on GM thermostats.

The first 195 listing is for straight 6 motors, the next 195 listing is for V8s of 350 cid or less and the 180 listing is for motors over 350 cid.

Sorry once again that this up loaded sideways, as it did not show that way on the site until I closed the manage attachment window, WTF?!

Thanks for posting - didn't realize they didn't fully open till the temperature was much higher than thermostat rating

Wink Thermostat

Good info. Actually tried a Delco stat recommended by another forum
Member. It’s a 170 rated stat. When tested on stove it cracked open at
165ish and was full open at 185. My car currently runs at 165 around town
And 170-175 on highway runs. I did this to see if new cold case radiator I installed
Would pull temp down to stat and hold it. This is with AC pulley setup and standard duty thermal Fan clutch and 7 blade fan. The cold case is a nice fit in my first gen.

You gotta take the pic holding fone horizontal. But someone should fix the uploader here to upright them.

That's not the case with every web site for some reason it seems!

Do you have AC or just the pulley? I just bought a Cold Case (not yet installed) for my bird and will install aftermarket AC in next couple of months (original AC car). Already have the 180 stat, and external trans cooler in front of radiator. Engine runs up to 195 in stop and go - wondering how much it will change with the condenser in front of radiator and extra load on engine.

Default Pulleys

No AC here. Just found better cooling with AC pulley setup.
Also using trans cooler in cold case radiator.
