Default Question about GTO wheels

If a build sheet does not show ralley II wheels, what wheels where stock on a 1970 GTO? And what would they look like?
I am assuming ralley II means an upgrade to a 15 inch wheel over a 14 inch wheel, but the wheels look the same............

Do you have a PHS for the car? That might shed more light on your question.
My 69 GTO vert. has no wheel or tire option on the PHS. I always assumed that it meant that it came with poverty caps. If someone knows for sure, I'd like to know about 69's also.

LOL,
I would feel the same. My car came new with 14" ralley's. In fact they are still on the car. I would really like to try those new 16" pontiac ralleys they have.

DON'T BELIEVE THE 15'S were an available option for 70 gto. my build sheet showed "XE5" which I have been told equates to 5 steel wheels. hubcaps??

Only 14x6 wheels were available on 1970 GTO's. Plain steel with 2 or three different styles of full wheel covers, or Rally II's.

What Lloyd said - except if you don't have any additional charges on PHS for wheelcovers - you got the little poverty caps. There was an optional regular type fullsize hubcap and a wire hubcap and 14x6 Ralley II.

Tkinion: sounds like yours came with whitewall tires and poverty caps. (ahem, yuck)

Baron,

This is huge.... I may have the only white-wall tire/hubcap convertible GTO in existance!!!! LOL And the really bad part is that the option cost $30.54 on the build sheet.

Well, since I have looked high and low for code correct NOS wheels and hubcaps for my car with no success, I must resign myself to putting crappy ralley II wheels on my car... Damn!

What was pontiac thinking even having hubcaps for a GTO. The same could be said for my car having a 3spd. It shouldnt even have been an option.
Especially when crappy road runners came stock with 4 spds.

There's an old man that lives near my garage who has an Atoll Blue 70 GTO WT/4spd Convertible he bought new. It has the "full disc-Lemans looking" hubcaps still on it that he ordered. He just won't sell the Car - or put me in his will. Been after him for about 12 years. I hate the way those hubcaps make the car look.

Every time I see him driving it I try to give him a set of 14x6 Ralleys to put on the Car. He's a real character - always says "will my hubcaps fit over on those Ralley wheels". I swear I'm going to give up on him pretty soon. Damn I want that Car !

Exactly what does your documentation say the $30.54 option is? What is the sales code number?

The $30.54 must be for the tires. Do you have a Decor Group listed?

The build sheet shows "G70x14 WW FG" $30.54 Code = TPR

That's all there is related to tires/wheels.

Why in the hell would pontiac charge for tires!?!?!? That's like charging for headlights!

Yep, plain black steel wheels with the small poverty caps and blackwall tires were the standard issue on 70 GTO's. Anything beyond that was extra coins.

Cool Must have changed...

as in '69, you got redlines or thin whites...no charge. My '69 ragtop came with poverty caps and blackwalls, per original owner. Jim Mattison argues with me that this was not possible. Car also shows up as a YS, while retaining original numbers-matching XX two-barrel. Our RA IV shows G-78 w/w tires as an option as well as Rally II's. I have only seen this option on 3.90 or 4.33 geared cars. Ours is a 4.33 car. Taller tires? Got me!

You keep saying build sheet. Do you have a build sheet or PHS invoicing? And if PHS, does it say you have a Decor Group?

The same sheet Jegstek is showing... I wonder, has anyone EVER seen a picture of whitewalls w/ hubcaps on a GTO?? I have been to ultimate GTO and performed a google search but have yet to find anything.. They must of been horrible for everybody to dump them and purchase a set of ralleys.
Is it possible for ralleys to be added at the dealership?

My PHS says 064-deluxe wheel discs ? My resto guide has a ton of different design caps, and none are too appealing.
