Default What's with all the different Mobile 1 Synthetic Oils?

Last year I finally made the switch to synthetic oil in my street GTO. I just went online to order for the next oil change and couldn't believe all the choices just for Mobile synthetic oil:

Mobile 1 Advanced Full Synthetic
Mobile 1 Extended Performance Full Synthetic
Mobile 1 High Mileage Full Synthetic
Mobile 1 Truck & SUV Full Synthetic
Mobile 1 Super 112914 Synthetic
Mobile 1 ESP Synthetic
Mobile 1 Annual Protection Ultimate Full Synthetic

Prices vary considerably for the different Mobile blends on Amazon. Not many miles on the engine and hydraulic roller cam so pretty simple requirements and I suspect that the cheapest Mobile Advanced Full Synthetic in the 5 quart bottle is the one I will be going with. Or maybe the Valvoline Advanced Synthetic since it's about $3 cheaper. Any suggestions on other choices?

Mick, FWIW, The Pennzoil ultra platinum, or platinum is a better buy, but that would be your choice. It's also rated on BITOG as one of the top synthetics.

I use Pennzoil since 1977, before they had synthetic oils, I've been using their synthetics in everything I own since they came out with them.

Walmart usually has it in stock too, if you need it same day.

Mick

I don't know if this attachment link will work or not, but if it does it will show you all the different oils and what there uses are.

That attached link would give you a 5 page document that has every Mobil1 synthetic oil on it.

Here is one page:

Here is a link to Mobil that gives you access to all Mobil oils:

I'm switching to Synthetic as well. I use Mobil 1 in my DD but for my car, I chose the VR1 Synthetic in 10W30. We shall see how it works out.

It's worse than trying to pick out shampoo.

Or toothpaste.

At least for those, if you are a man, you can just use Dial soap for both.

Actually that link is quite old and some Mobil 1 motor oils have been reformulated since then. Below is a link to the latest 2022 info:

Well darn. so the "High Mileage" no longer has much more zinc and phos than the general Mobile 1 formulation. I had been using it as a way of getting more zinc and phos without having to use an additive. Maybe I will have to consider a new plan B or maybe it is now plan C.

Might want to consider the VR1 synthetic then.

I’m partial to and have been using Mobil Delvac Extreme full synthetic. The price is right (cheap) at Walmart and it has as much or more ZDDP as a lot of the boutique racing oils and a high TBN.

I have been using Walmart brand full synthetic for all my street cars, my race car and my lawn mower for 25 years. I was sold on it after having to pull my 2000 Durango 4.7 L overhead cam motor to replace a valve. I had used the Walmart oil since new and I pulled the head at 144,000 miles. After pulling the head there was zero bore wear, absolutely no ridge at the top of the bore. All those years i was wondering if there was any benefit to using full syn and this situation convinced me. Your results may vary. The motor is still running strong at 200,000 miles.

Regular and timely oil changes along with using the correct type of oil according to the auto manufacturers recommendation are probably more important than the brand oil used.
