Default Opinion on stripes

So my dad and I and currently working on a white 70 gto and we're trying to decide on what stripes/decals to go with. I like the D78 ('69 sword) stripe on the 70 gto because it's unique. But many have told me that the 70 judge eyebrow stripes are the way to go. I know it's our car and we should do what we want, but I'm just looking for some opinions from the crowd. Thanks in advance.

Also on a related note, our car is an original tach and gauges car but we're thinking of put a hood tach on it. Yay or nay?

I really like the '69 style stripe on the '70. I don't think I'd do the eye brow stripes unless it was a Judge or clone.

What color is the interior?

I guess it begs the question, are you doing this for you or to resell for profit? if to resell, it seems the judge strips/wing/hood tach are real popular on these cars. even if you don't put the wing on, the next guy will. if for you, make it how YOU want it now, or you'll be sorry later.

but, since you asked for opinions, here's mine. I really like the '69 strip on the '70 and would stay with the in dash tach.

wasn't the non judge eyebrow stripes only two color instead of three, or am I thinking of something else?

I have considered the same thing. I want some extra "flair" for my 72 base Lemans, but I am unsure. I get stuck between stuff that is obviously GTO or Judge only stripe options, and my car is obviously neither of those.

Are you an "original" guy? Do you have constraints like that on your choices?

Hot Rod did a Lemans with eyebrow stripes that was cool:

Sword stripe:

I see eyebrows on most 70 GTO's. The eyebrow stripe seems overdone, but there is a reason for that. It's bold. It comes down to a choice similar to 2nd gen T/A vs. Formula, or Mustang 5.0 GT vs. LX.

IMO, the sword stripe is a little bit under the radar. If you want a car with a more subtle statement, then sword would be my pick.

For my car I will probably do a Lemans GT stripe, or one of the 9 stripe deals:

I like the sword for a 70 GTO.

I was speaking to someone who is doing a restoration on a 70 RA IV convertible and had the PHS invoice showing D78 stripe. Is this the eye-brow or 69 style stripe?

doesn't that depend on the build date? the early cars got the '69 style stripe and then it was changed over to the eyebrow one sometime during the model year.

I think the white/red/black would look best, but obviously the white won't show up on a white car so I guess yellow/red/black would be the way to go.

I'm a fan! Eyebrows are my least favorite of the 69-72 stripes.

Do you have any pictures of your car with the sword stripe on it?

I'm a couple years away from finishing mine but I will be going with the sword style stripe for my '70 GTO. Also a hood tach and wing.

As mentioned, it's not really a '69 stripe. It's fully correct for a 70 model as they were ordered that way early in the year. The eye brows just seem to scream "Judge!" to me. Just my opinion.
