Default weirdest engine swap

This has to win the award for the strangest engine swap I've ever seen

That is odd, but at least the slant 6 almost fits under the hood.

A Slant 6 in an RX7, yet I don't see any examples of a Pontiac OHC6 swapped in any Pontiacs later than 1969...

I remember seeing a Pontiac OHC sprint engine swapped into a Jaguar XKE on this forum somewhere a few years ago. It looked pretty happy in there. That poor slant 6 looks like it wants to be put back in the Aspen it came out of.

Probably the strangest swap I've ever seen was VW into a VW. That is, a 1960s Bug flat 4 into a late '80s Jetta. Saw it at a VW show while I was on vacation in Puerto Rico last month.

Default V6 VW

1964 Buick 225 cube 155 hp odd-fire V6 (Buick Special standard engine) into a 1969 VW Type III Squareback. Sat in the same place as the original flat-4 using an adapter plate to mate it to the VW transaxle, radiator was up front, drivetrain layout much like a Delorean.

Became my daily driver at age 19 which was 40 years ago.

One of my buddies down here swapped a Coyote V-8 and six-speed out of a Mustang into a mid 1990s BMW 8-series Coupe. You think an LS swap pisses off traditional Pontiac fans? You should hear the comments that Bimmer purists come up with. He did an amazing job and the workmanship is top-notch throughout. It is a badass car.

15.18 @ 89 mph in the 1/4 which was not too shabby considering it could keep up with the new Corvettes and Z-28s of the day. Keep in mind I needed to launch it softly in first gear so as not to destroy the trans, didn’t follow that rule once and learned an expensive lesson. Most of the time I would start off in second and shift to fourth while driving normally, that V6 had tons of low-end torque. Completely stock engine right down to the original 1-barrel Rochester carb.

Did all the body work in my parents driveway and had a friend shoot it with Ditzler black enamel in his booth.

Hood louvers were functional for letting about half of the hot radiator air escape, punched by Kent Fuller who you already know was quite famous for his dragster chassis builds back in the day.

Nice. I guess Fuller did just about anything to and with metal.

A friend of mines Dad put an Opel motor and trans in an old John Deere tractor. I think he just had them laying around and ran out of something to do. He used it for years. Lol!

Saw a ‘60’s Cadillac engine in an ‘80’s Porsche 911. Why wreck one car when you can ruin two?

There was a show I think it was called Cuban Chrome only watch parts of it a couple times, but they swap everything into anything over there just to keep it running.
