hahahaha, i always laugh when the 1/4 mile guys are crying....Because its not worth arguing, my point is being spread all over the country. Everywhere you look is going 1/8th mile.
I hated the 1/8 mile stuff too. Couldnt stand it. Until my first 1/8th mile heads up race......I almost went home when i heard it was 1/8th mile.....But after the race was over, i was trying to remember why we ever raced 1/4 mile. Dont worry, everywhere in the country will be heads up racing 1/8th mile in the next 10 years. Bracket racing is the only thing that might be safe for another few years after that. But eventually it will be 1/8th as well.

Sure brand X, our track, Samoa Drag Strip in Northern California was just resurfaced 3 seasons ago. New concrete launch pad and all.
There was not even a thought of gong the 1/8 mile around here. Full 1/4 mile racing here on the ocean. Most cars who blow up do it at the end of the track. 1/8 mile tracks are just cheap. Cheap insurance, less real estate, less cost. There is no desire to see a race that is over in 5 to 6 seconds at our track. The only talk of the 1/8 mile here is maybe get some Nostalgia Funny Cars to do it as we are only certified down to 7.00. But a real 1/4 mile NHRA drag strip just got repaved and is not going anywhere. I know racers who are trying to get away from 1/8 mile tracks like the plague. 1/8th mile blows chunks. |

I love 1/8th mile racing. The underdog has a chance, and you dont have to buy a million dollar car to be competitive. The races are closer, less oil downs, more car counts, bigger payouts, more tracks, believe it or not bigger spectator count. 1/8th mile just makes sense.

Having raced both 1/8 and 1/4 many many many times, nothing beats the excitement of a 1/4 mile race. 1/8 mile is just half a race. And I have more wins in the half race stuff! But it's still half a race at only 1/8 mile.
Now back to topic, it will be interesting to see if Butler's new ride out e.t.'s that dragster or not. |

1. Is that a carbon fiber body that Mike Cooper had made?
2. Hopefully, Travis is doing the tuning. |
