Question on displacement
Can someone answer this question.. I have a 77 400 bored .030 over with stock rods and crank. What would the displacement be roughly?? Might be a stoopid question but hey...

Back in the early 60s, Ford had 406 badges.

Displacement = Bore x Bore x Stroke x .7854 x 8 (for a 8-cylinder)
A stock Pontiac 400 has a 4.12" bore and a 3.75 stroke, so: 4.12 x 4.12 x 3.75 x .7854 x 8 = 399.951 rounds to 400ci. Once you over bore .030" you get: 4.15 x 4.15 x 3.75 x .7854 x 8 = 405.797 rounds to 406ci. I think thats the same as what Screaming chief said. |
