Default Bad plug or bad switch?

I am working on a '72 A body that has power door locks. The harness plug on the passenger door switch doesn't stay on the pins of the switch. Do I have a switch that's missing the 3rd longer retainer pin? The original switch has two pins that don't extend through the plug to allow a retainer clip. The harness plug has 3 holes, so that's what I suspect.
Or is the harness end at fault? Should it lock by friction of the two pins when pushed onto the switch?

Supposed to be 3 pins on the back for each switch.

They are spring clip sockets and usually don't have a problem retaining the switch pins in them.
