Question

Did you check the vacuum line at the trans modulator? Also, check the trans fluid level. I had another brand that did this when the modulator tanked.

At least in terms of ring and valve sealing you are, keep digging!

What kind of valve seals do you have? Some harden rather quickly and let oil past. Probably just need new seals. 95% of the old small block chevys running around have the same deal going on lol.

Just something to check. I changed valve springs once and did not get the o-rings positioned correctly on the valve stem groove. Oil was being sucked down and I had smoke at idle and a little on initial acceleration then it would go away. Now I take a small suction cup that just fits over the retainer and see if I can get it to "suck" and insure the o-rings are seated in the groove.

Pull your dip stick and smell the oil, does it smell like gas ? Does the oil feel thin with the motor cold?
If so your fuel pump is bad.

Does the car have power Brakes? I had a similar problem years ago that ended up being a leaking master cylinder, it was leaking into the brake booster, and at high engine vacuum was pulling the brake fluid into the intake. No evidence of a leak from the outside of the Master Cylinder or Booster. Brakes seemed to work fine, but after I replaced both the MC and Booster they worked much better and the smoking issue was gone.

Just something else to consider.

I would try and cap off the vacuum line to the booster if it is a power brake car.

Hey also check the vacuum line for the brake booster if it has power brakes! I seen them fail and suck brake fluid into the intake.

Have you checked the valve seals yet??? Easy enough to pull a valve cover off and look around. Are they hard? Pc seals, white or black?

I didn't read everything so I don't know if anyone suggested this, but I always light up after I get over about 20mph. Never at idle. It helps keep the smoke out of the upholstery.
