Hi guys,I'm looking for a mechanic to work on these cars, here in Myrtle Beach SC. Does it help to switch to the 11 bolt water pump rather than the 8 bolt on a 400ci engine? Overheating issues! Thank you very much for any help.

8-Bolt will run as cool as an 11-bolt, but both need messaging to reach their full cooling potential. Three coolest running cars in our GTO club have the 8-bolt pump. Make sure you read the sticky in the heating and cooling section - or at least the first 80 posts or so. Comes down to tightening up plate clearances, pulley ratio, properly working fan clutch, and a clean radiator.

Is it just cooling system work you need? I am up near Clemson and know some people on the coast.
