Default $149 Roller Lifters?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLDS-PONTIAC...JWcKjC&vxp=mtr

Really? I wish I was a lottery winner so I could put these in an engine just to see what would happen...

They would probably be okay for an all- cast iron street motor that you don't rev past 5500 rpm , but I wouldn't trust them in an aluminum headed build, or anything high dollar.Roll the dice and let us know how it goes-lol.

I wish I could! I'd like to get my hands on a set of these and go through them with a fine-tooth comb. Mic them all and see if they're consistently sized, check the rollers to see how they're constructed, etc. and then throw them in an engine that I wouldn't cry over if a roller came apart and trashed the block.

Honestly, I wouldn't trust these in any engine I just spent thousands of dollars building. No way, no how. "If it seems too good to be true..."

No need for a high dollar engine, use a junkyard engine and throw it in there.

The ad says they are from CAT. Did anyone use those when CAT was in business?

"The biggest problem with Mechanical Rollers on the street, is most guys don't think they need the top of the line parts to run on the street. To run Mechanical rollers on the street, you need the good $500 lifters, and most people figure they can get away with the cheaper stuff, because they're not turning as much RPM. You also need to make sure the cam profile is gentle enough for the street. The maintenance on a street engine is not going to be as often as a race engine. The lash opening up just a couple thousandths could do a lot of damage with an aggressive profile."
Mike Jones
Jones Cam Designs

Are they pressure fed lifters that will "cushion" the needles ?

It has been stated if you go to a solid roller lifter with pressure oiling to the needle bearings you triple the life of the standard rollers. And keep in mind with a solid roller set up you should avoid low rpm idle time in a street engine. The lack of oil splash at a low rpm is a killer to lifters, even with pressure fed lifters.

AVOID low rpm idle speed in gear !

"Secondarily, the incredibly fast action of today's roller cam profiles take the roller on the lifter from no-load to punishing load to no-load so fast, the needles see a point loading."

The quality of the bearings and their manufactured tolerances are very important.

Yes, they could be. Might be the bargain of the century. Who wants to try a set and find out?

If it's too good of a deal to be true, beware!

Seems like I remember Cat stuff hasn't been made in years, not a lot of good feed back.

Now there's an idea! Put some 300+ cfm heads on it, a big solid roller, and see what happens.

Throw them in a 301 as I wouldn't even want to risk a 557 block on these lead anchors.
