oh my gosh you guys, i just installed my headers and ijust got them today about 20 mins ago, i have got to say what is up with those people complaining about how hard it is to install them on my 67 bird, i had no problems with the steering box or anything except for the oil filter. The easiest installation ever. i was just so hiped up about it i needed to tell everyone.

Yea I never had a problem with mine either. Most ground clearance I've ever had. Only complant is one tube on passenger side touches the idler arm.

It's a 30 over 455. It should be the same for any Pontiac engine. There's no differance in size.

well i just put them on to see if the stories were true, and i guess its just bad luck for some people. I took them out already so that i know where to cut my pipes and install the header collector.
Im thinking about making my own Cut-out's anybody think its a bad idea?

Early Firebirds are easy to install headers on. Go try a GTO.

Put the Super Comps in my '68 Bird in the fall. No big deal like you said. No issue with the oil filter other than it was a tight fit. Still able to use the AC PF24. Interesting thing is that people say with Doug's Headers you can't run a stock size filter. That does not sound like superior engineering to me.

haha good one Mike P,
Ok heres my exhaust planning. The black lines, is that a good place to cut so that i can put the collectors? and if i put some cut-outs where would i put them at? where it starts to angle? I was thinking about putting them right at the beginning of the turn so that when i open the cut-out it can flow straight and not angle out like other systems. is that a good idea? [IMG:left] [/IMG]

You know it Scott putting a set of headers on a 71 GTO Lemans T37 is a night mare I my self would never do it again, unless it is strickly for the track if its only street driven for get it.

Good place for a start. After installed and with the collectors on you'll see where to make the final cut.
